📍Panathur Underpass: Road or swimming pool?
A simple question to the authorities: @GBA_office@GBAChiefComm@ICCCBengaluru@osd_cmkarnataka@halairporttrfps
By when will this water be cleared and the underpass restored to a genuinely drivable condition? Residents need roads, not water sports and monsoon-made aquariums!

🚨Varthur Traffic Mess!
2 hours to cover 2 km. 🤦♂️
SH-35 widening started in 2019, yet 7 years later, there’s no end in sight.
80% land acquisition done, but 14 properties are pending, as per KRDCL.
Hope Airport region doesn't turn East Bengaluru! 🙏

"Today, I sat helplessly waiting for my daughter’s school bus to move. Two hours. Just 2 kilometres."
As a parent, there is something deeply disturbing about knowing your child is stuck on a road for hours and having absolutely no way to make the situation better.
This is not merely “Bengaluru traffic.” When the same thing keeps happening to schoolchildren and families day after day, it becomes a governance failure that has a human cost.
We pay our taxes, take loans, work hard, follow the rules and do everything we can to give our children a safe and comfortable life. Yet, on these roads, even something as basic as getting your child home safely from school feels beyond our control.
And the question that needs to be asked is simple:
How many more children and families have to suffer before this stops being treated as just another traffic complaint?

#VarthurIsBleeding
Children twiddling thumbs in school buses.
Everyday for more than 2 hours. The infamous Varthur - Gunjur stretch has schools, huge high rises and IT companies.
The widening of SH 35 has been in the works for close to 2 decades.
When will Bangalore listen?
@MALimbavali@krishnabgowda@DKShivakumar ?
Why is nobody being held accountable for what is happening on Gunjur–Varthur?
Parents are furious because this is no longer an occasional traffic jam. School buses are getting trapped for hours, children are losing precious hours of their day, and residents have been raising the same issues repeatedly. This exact corridor has already been documented as a recurring school-traffic nightmare, with children reportedly spending hours commuting.
And now comes the obvious question:
If a project had a promised completion date of 4 September, where is the daily progress report? Where is the accountability for the delay? Where are the penalties? Who signed off on the execution plan, and who is monitoring it?
GBA has publicly said that officials must monitor works effectively and that contractors who fail to perform will be penalised.
So residents deserve a simple answer: does that accountability actually apply on the ground, or is it only a sentence in a press statement?
The most astonishing part is that citizens are expected to accept the chaos as “normal” while the system appears to have no urgency.
A school bus taking hours to cover a few kilometres is not a traffic statistic. It is a governance failure experienced by a child sitting inside that bus.
@krishnabgowda@GBA_office@DKShivakumar
Please publish the project status, revised completion date, responsible agency/contractor, reasons for the delay and the action taken for non-performance.
Because if nobody is accountable for repeated failures, then “accountability” is just another road sign on a road that nobody is fixing.

Top 10 Tech Cities of the world. Rising power. Competitor to our neighbors! 🤡
See @DKShivakumar , what the best talent in the country is doing. @krishnabgowda - you didnt even bother to peek into Varthur. What a disppointing thing to do! 😐
What a country we are in, citizens are begging, this is what 4T economy looks like.
@DKShivakumar@GBAChiefComm how do you guys sleep at night?
@narendramodi can you bring your "cool" friends once to visit Mahadevpura and Whitefield area of Bangalore to show them our world-class silicon valley, maybe this will force @GBA_office to fix issues.
Kids are suffering in this chaos. My child is stuck for 2 hours near Varthur lake. Heavy vehicles are allowed all the time in this zone where already there's no road. Who's responsible for the pain the young kids are going through on daily basis?
Why is no one penalized for the jams in Gunjur-Varthur? Every parent I speak to is mad - buses have been stuck for hours on the road. Absolute mismanagement - @krishnabgowda@GBA_office.
The work was supposed to be completed by 4 Sep. No contractor or GBA official is penalized for delays. Everyone is helpless - and no authority is bothered.
Bengaluru is celebrated as India’s technology capital, yet children around Varthur–Gunjur are routinely spending 2–3 hours travelling just a few kilometres. This isn’t an isolated traffic jam — it is a recurring reality, often several times a week.
Every hour lost in traffic means less time for sleep, studies, sports, family and simply being a child. School-going children are being made to bear the daily consequences of years of inadequate infrastructure and traffic planning.
At what point does “traffic congestion” stop being an inconvenience and become a failure of governance with a direct impact on children’s lives?
@CMofKarnataka avare, please INTERVENE urgently. Our children cannot be expected to keep paying the price for administrative delays and planning failures.
@DKShivakumar@GBA_office@GBAChiefComm@krishnabgowda@lkatheeq@PCMohanMP@ShobhaBJP@Tejasvi_Surya@noorainee@kiranshaw@kris_sg@DKSureshINC@ChristinMP_@NammaBengaluroo
2.5+ hours to travel about 4km from school to home today for kids around Varthur and Gunjur. This is not a one off situation, happens almost every other day. International schools ,big IT companies & lakhs of people have been living in these conditions.
🚨 2.5+ HOURS TO TRAVEL JUST 4 KM.
Today, children travelling from school to home around Varthur–Gunjur were stuck for over 2.5 hours for a journey of barely 4 km.
And this is not an isolated incident. It happens almost every other day.
Think about the recurring impact on children: hours lost sitting in school buses after a full day at school, delayed meals, less time for homework, sports and family, and exhausted kids reaching home late — only to repeat the same ordeal the next day.
This is happening in an area with international schools, major IT companies and lakhs of residents.
When children routinely spend more time commuting than they should, this is no longer simply a “traffic problem.” It is a failure of urban planning, road infrastructure and traffic management.
Bengaluru talks about becoming a global city. Meanwhile, 4 km is taking 2.5 hours for its children.
How long are authorities going to treat this as normal?
