I don’t think Burnham knows what the fiscal rules are. He can’t be sound on finance if he thinks of keeping Reeves in place! Labour’s manifesto revenue raising policies have been absolutely disastrous. Andy’s a phoney, as everyone will find out if Makerfield votes for him...
If there’s one thing I’m not going to do, it’s take lectures on ‘not whipping up division’ and ‘being tolerant’ from the very party whose political leaders and online activists have made it their absolute mission to whip up division in this country to the point that we waste so much energy on the arguments THEY have caused, that we have completely lost sight of normal priorities.
Yes we’re angry. And patronising us and pretending they’re innocent in all of this is only making us even more angry than we already were at the mess career politicians and their mates are making of what was once a thriving and proud country.
Have you seen Rhys (15) missing from #ConnahsQuay (#Flintshire) last seen on June 4, 2026? (Call North Wales police on 101 quoting iTrace 54103) https://t.co/WLMn2VkQvr
With Robs lack of media experience and short time in politics, he could've had a disastrous time against more experienced & polished politicians.
However, Rob remained calm, didn't get drawn into anything and put his case forward when on safer ground.
Well done Rob! 👏
A very disturbing summary by a dignified woman.
The partner of a school caretaker who was stabbed to death by Valdo Calocane, a paranoid schizophrenic, has said she has lost all trust in the NHS and police.
Elaine Newton, whose partner Ian Coates was killed on his way to work in Nottingham, said hearing the extent of systemic failings during the inquiry into Calocane’s attacks had been “horrifying”.
Mr Coates, 65, was fatally stabbed just over an hour after Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19-year-old students, were killed by Calocane in the early hours of June 13 2023.
In a statement on Friday, Ms Newton said: “After listening to the evidence over the last three months, I have lost all trust in the NHS and the police. Fundamental issues were ignored or covered up. Powerful people in positions of trust have lied.
“To hear the full extent of the systemic failings has been horrifying, and without the inquiry I don’t think we would have ever known just how deep the culture of negligence really is.”
I’ve lost faith in police, says Nottingham attack victim’s partner https://t.co/phf4yP3Puj
If, and it's still a big if, but if Burnham wins and there is an election for Manchester mayor that's going to be wild. Everything Burnham got wrong would be examined under a media microscope.

I’m looking forward to my fellow Brits who say Vance shouldn’t comment on British affairs to stop boring us all with their shit takes on Trump and what’s going on in the US in future.
90% of the soldiers on the first boats to hit the beach didn't live to see the end of the day. Look at those faces. Some of them never made it to 18.
Never forget that they paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We live our lives the way we do because of them.
Gosh I miss him so much. I wish he was still here to fight for them. My voice is so small compared to his I wish I could do more.

@PaulEmbery It’s not difficult to understand that rapid population growth puts pressure on housing, healthcare, schools, and infrastructure. People should be able to discuss that without being sneered at or talked down to.
This, from a former Police officer at Sussex Police (which has, you guessed it, a Conservative PCC):
‘“Over the past eight months, I witnessed first-hand two-tier policing, a complete lack of leadership or common sense and their disregard for what’s in the public good.
“They treated the drunk driver more leniently than they treated me, which is ironic considering that the Chief Constable, Jo Shiner, is the national lead for roads policing.
This brave officer stood up to the Orwellian DEI at the force and won.
But it should never have got to that point.

Today is D day - the day thousands of British Men stormed the shores of Normandy and died to begin the liberation of Europe - those bravest of the brave must be turning in their grave looking at what our politicians have turned their sacrifice into…..🇬🇧🇬🇧
Sitting here crying as I cannot believe that Henry Nowak was handcuffed by British police as he begged for help dying. What is wrong with this country? Our offices are there to PROTECT us. "Shame on the monster who took him, shame on the officers who should've helped him & shame on the organisation that trained police to prioritise accusations of racism over a dying man."
