politicians and lobbyists combine to make a mess. trying to subsidize bell and rogers backfires but sadly hurts small, local media even worse. @CRTCeng https://t.co/nLxAHsqAcK
In the next episode of competition theatre.........https://t.co/NH7DUXlZu4 @CRTCeng@mgeist and these are the rates that only "facilities-based carriers" have access to. Not real MVNOs like us *shrug*
competition theatre continues in Canada. amazing how the CRTC can let this joke continue. I look forward to Quebecor launching and being able to save $5/month on the most expensive phone rates in the world so we can move from worst to.......worst! @CRTCeng https://t.co/jKQEyvIDK2
This is WRONG. Threat from disinfo actors (๐จ๐ณ,๐ท๐บ,๐ฎ๐ท, etc.) is MUCH greater than from Western state actors. Limits talked of here are correct, but the MUCH greater threat, which signatories are often used as tools by, is misinfo. #Westminsterdeclaration https://t.co/6Ck75DiLZx
The Canadian government is successful in having Canadians consume less news, particularly domestic news. ๐คทโโ๏ธ https://t.co/FXhjR2PbQk Regulators, please get your heads out of the ass of Bell/Rogers. you subsidize them while we pay highest telecom prices in the world
I am no policy fan of meta but....."meta demands canada drop stupid law with obvious negative consequences" https://t.co/ow9tdOPu4C
@PascaleStOnge_@pablorodriguez
Canadian competition theatre continues https://t.co/PdAoyOvk7w . "Please negotiate with our hand-picked insiders so we can all claim we have introduced competition". As US mobile prices continue to tumble it is just more and more ridiculous. @CRTCeng
@sama Sadly we are nowhere near 3. All of web3 focus on tech and hand wave "votes" as participatory. Global governance structures need to be completely re-thought. Please @sama hire some brilliant public policy minds who understand the difference between global and international!
here we go again. I can book my hotel room for ottawa for 18 months from now and get the suit out of the mothballs so I can say the same things and have the same result "MVNOs are great! But not quite and not yet......". What a joke @CRTCeng https://t.co/iCh3lPO7Nm
@LastMileFiber but we want to be as transparent as possible. it is how we operate. we are an Internet company and that is comfortable for us. less so for our competitors. fiber is a GREAT investment. the more we can help shareholders see that, the easier my job is.
@LastMileFiber and we never think of our shareholders as greedy or think of clear disclosure as "bending the knee". we are public, unlike our competitors. that has benefits, mostly for employees and shareholders, but a real "cost" in disclosure (lots of effort, lots of info for competitors)
What a perfect way to appear to generate competition while ensuring that the Canadian telecom oligopoly remains intact. highest prices in the world for the win! YUCK @CRTCeng https://t.co/8vxoAHaSBC
@woodyatpch This is a solid analysis. ICANN should not do this. AND what CAN ICANN do? We have constraints. The sanctity of the DNS and the Open Internet. The inarguably asymmetric use of it for disinformation. Oh and dealing with pointers not content! ๐ค #Ukraine#ICANN
