@aaronjhann If Desiring God considers this “Godly sorrow”… It is nothing but victim blaming, making poor excuses for himself and nowhere does he hint at taking the responsibility for his illegitimate child.
What a piece of work🙁
@reachjulieroys I hate to think what he does to her in private is he bashes her head in a full air plane.
And she hadn’t even done something ‘wrong’ she just got lucky. What man can’t stand it when his wife has a good surprise?
@Wbtesq@rickpidcock Thank God it isn’t. But those trying to reshape Christianity into their own power hungry image will answer for it. No tear cried by the people they harm with their ‘theology’ goes unnoticed by God.
@rofbethany @oldreepicheep Actually that would be great, but unfortunately he is not a judge. Still he does pretty good analysis which can help us all to be wary of pastors who should be in prison.
@MuiRebekah If a brother or sister cannot afford food, you feed them. If their house burns down, you host them. If they break their leg, you fetch groceries for them. If there is anything that can be done to reduce suffering you do that, before you quote verses about patience in suffering.
@kateshellnutt It shouldn’t take an abuse scandal and losing liability insurance, but at least this will give believers a chance to regroup outside of toxic leadership structures and the corporate church model. The church will live even as church organizations die.
@ChristaBrown777@HoustonChron@RobertDownen_ Prolly he glanced at it and it didn’t agree with him. Then his buddy said he thought lots of it must be biased.
Or he made “lots of digging” part up altogether.
@MindShift2018 Don’t forget the standing ovation. There is always solidarity with the people who messed up. The church is made to feel “we are all in this together, we have to stand firm in this hour of trial” There so an emotional appeal for forgiveness and support. And up they jump to clap.
@IiiCraighead@denisedwheeler It is only their ‘past’ if they repented. Part of repentance is accepting that marital unfaithfulness and financial crimes committed while in ministry are disqualifying for that ministry.
Elders finally communicate with members & it’s filled with lies, misdirection & judgment errors.
Here’s how:
1) you don’t allow a pedophile pastor to resign. This says the elders still support Robert & may still believe his lies. It’s an “honorable discharge” & other churches
@osucowboytc Some people think you can baptise the works of the flesh and call it “Christian manhood”rather than crucify them and begin to show the fruits of the Spirit. Somehow the fruit of the Spirit is too feminine.
@kenschenck Very nice but I am no fan of your final assertion. If that was true, one wrong theological discernment even made in good faith would land us in hell. It is the same argument used by countless religious swindlers to scare their followers into compliance.
