Protecting patients starts with stronger regulation. On Wednesday, 1 July, Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale inaugurated the Interministerial Steering Committee to drive the implementation of Kenya’s National Action Plan on Substandard and Falsified Medical Products, strengthening coordinated action to protect the public and ensure every Kenyan has access to safe, quality, effective and affordable medicines.

This week in Kakamega County, CHAK joined partners for impactful support supervision, mentorship, and monitoring visits across four GoK facilities under the IMPACT project.
We engaged county health leadership and frontline teams to strengthen pharmaceutical systems, assess key health committees, and advance better service delivery across 13 facilities.
Many rural facilities face pharmacy staff shortages. Through smart task-shifting and continuous training, IMPACT is helping bridge the gap, improving patient outcomes where it’s needed most.
We’re also putting a spotlight on patient-centered care, ensuring the unique needs of the elderly are recognized and integrated into everyday practice.

Kenya marked World Tuberculosis (TB) Day with a renewed commitment to combat the disease. Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, emphasized the government's dedication to investing in TB control efforts, ensuring accessibility and affordability of services for all Kenyans.

Despite notable progress, TB remains a persistent public health challenge in Kenya, with the country among the 30 high-burden nations for TB. Nakhumicha expressed gratitude to partners, healthcare workers, and the community for their support.

She lauded Kenya's innovative TB diagnosis and treatment methods and highlighted efforts to intensify case detection through community-based interventions. Additionally, the CS emphasized the Ministry of Health's focus on providing high-quality TB services, integrating them into broader development agendas.

Nakhumicha called for collective action towards a TB-free Kenya and acknowledged the presence of key leaders including Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, and Muranga Governor Hon Irungu Kangata, at the event among others.
