Visit our website or find us at the place in the sky. This account will remain until next September, but we will no longer post here. For quite some time, we have not felt comfortable here anymore.
It is a sad truth that the PACT project began with Trump in the White House and will end next year with him back there. Sadly, our project has become even more relevant over the past years.
Here's PACT PI Michael Butter's take on what the assassination attempt for the presidential race and what role conspiracy theories play in all this. Unfortunately behind the paywall: https://t.co/6HSObTIWVD
An edited volume based on our first two conferences is out now. You can download the PDF here: https://t.co/hPC1H9hzYw. The print version will be out on July 4.
Giacomo Loperfido, postdoc researcher in the PACT team, has written for Focaal on the relationship between austerity and the rise of what some call populism and others fascism in Italy: https://t.co/YdME4hyaGX
We are also happy to announce that Michael Butter's new book is out. Populism and conspiracy theory are mentioned only once or twice. So are, among other things, George Clooney, séances, 19th century "vagina whigs", "Breaking Bad" and many other things. https://t.co/P5W99m6C63
The PACT researchers have other interests beyond populism and conspiracy theory. Next Thursday, PI Michael Butter and his colleague Jörg Robert welcome world-class tennis player turned author @andreapetkovic for a conversation about tennis and literature. https://t.co/MnVcQzsxh1
Contains a chapter by PI Michael Butter in which he criticizes the psychological research on conspiracy theories from the perspective of cultural history.
Nächsten Monat erscheint der von mir herausgegebene Band zur "Psychologie der Verschwörungstheorien" mit interdisziplinäre Einwürfen. Hier ein Vorab-Interview. https://t.co/juwzDZKNL7
In the meantime, we are happy to announce that our final conference will take place in Talinn in September 2024. We organize it in cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics at the University of Tartu.
We have been silent for a while because, like many others, we do not feel comfortable here anymore. We are currently organizing our transition to Mastodon and this place in the sky. Stay tuned for details.
@BeatrizBuarqueR These info sheets are excellent, but I disagree with this one. Conspiracy theories of the deep state have been popular in the U.S. since the Kennedy assassination. It's problematic to conflate QAnon with the far more popular and wider belief in a deep state.
