Cholera outbreaks can be prevented when communities are prepared. In Jigawa, with support from @SecGTFCC, the @IFRC, @nrcs_ng and partners led by the State Government are training local teams to spot high-risk areas early, improve coordination and help protect millions of people.

Today I met with @curriealder, CLARE Programme Team Leader at IDRC, to discuss progress on the REBUMAA project funded by @IDRC_CRDI and @FCDOGovUK . We explored how anticipatory action research is helping people in Benin, Nigeria and Togo prepare for floods and build resilience.

After 3 years, @ghanaredcross with @ifrc support and @GWCL_Gh conclude Urban WASH partnership in Ashanti, delivering subsidized piped water to low-income homes in urban centers. 1,300+ connections made, 28,000+ people reached through hygiene campaigns.

With floods forecast from @nimetnigeria across 20+ states, @nrcs_ng teams are already helping communities prepare, reduce risks and protect lives and livelihoods. Thanks to @eu_echo and the Italian Government for supporting early action and stronger community resilience.

Yesterday, I welcomed the REBUMAA Hamburg team to Nigeria. We had rich discussions on the impact of the REBUMAA project and how to scale up efforts, share best practices, and present our Anticipatory Action research findings to stakeholders and the scientific community.

Today I met with the visiting team from @FCDOGovUK and colleagues from @BritishRedCross. We discussed @IFRC’s Renewal 3.0, NSIF, EAPs and community resilience related long term engagements to explore collaboration & strengthen support for communities served by our volunteers.

For 2.5 days, we took a committed look at @ifrc’s Renewal 3.0, NSIF, & Way of Working, which are shaping a more agile humanitarian response.
The outcome is clear: renewed focus, domestic financial sustainability, stronger systems, & unwavering support to volunteers on frontlines
