Should kids throw curveballs?
Or are we asking the WRONG question?
I just evaluated a 10-year-old with a UCL tear…
who couldn’t even do a simple get up from the ground.
And we’re debating pitch types?
This isn’t a curveball problem.
This is a youth development problem.
Kids are:
⚾️ Playing 90+ games a year
⚾️ Throwing max intent before they can move
⚾️ Training like mini-pros
⚾️ Skipping athletic development
⚾️ Living in velocity culture
And then we’re shocked when their elbows explode.
So I’ll ask again:
👉 Is the curveball the villain?
Or are we breaking kids before they ever get the chance to grow?

@timkettenring Missed what happened leading to this but props to you Tim for stepping up and taking ownership. Our industry and this shitty app need more of this. Kudos
Sometimes fitness training is complex and we dilute it's value by trying to simplify it
Sometimes fitness training is simple and we dilute it's value by trying to make it more complex
The wisdom of a great coach is knowing when to simplify and when NOT to
I was recently asked on a podcast with Keith Bilous about my career journey. Over the last 25+ years I have had the great fortune of owning a successful training facility for 12 years, working with pro athletes & teams and teaching workshops all over the world.
BUT...
👇
@CoachKevinCarr@mboyle1959@Louis_Ville Very well said Kevin. It’s analogous to health influencers who preach morning routines of sunlight, grounding, meditation, journaling, etc. Great habits, but not realistic for the guy who starts every morning the last 20 years with a sugary coffee, bagel & 5 min late for work
This has been circulating around so I wanted to give the heads up to any dads out there thinking of having your son who is a sophomore in high school follow this same diet you need to first consider the very high possibility that your son is NOT Derrick Henry

Fitness coaches and personal trainers certainly aren't without their faults, but there are also physical therapists and rehab professionals who have a lot of room for improvement as well.
All of us need to STOP MAKING PEOPLE AFRAID TO MOVE.
@PratikxPatel You could actually make a very good argument to the contrary, plus you get more done and less time. Have we really come to having an anti – superset faction of our industry?
Do you want to be BETTER or would you rather be RIGHT???
Coaches and trainers argue all day on social media about what "counts" as exercise, what is the best way to improve your VO2Max or what is considered as a "real" Deadlift
