The cost is prohibitive as a natural result of the strategy - so r&d or scale cannot substantially reduce this cost. This is the nature of 1st law thermo.

@claysd If you're interested, I realize I could back up and explain this more clearly from first principles-your call. The question we would consider is IF ccus can have a substantial &positive role as we rush to address GW while seeking to limit vital economic impacts. Imo, it does not.

@claysd @philaroneanu Keep in mind that I'm considering full system costs, volume needed, and opportunity costs -as we should-and the result is that major investment in CCUS would be a disaster: for climate, but also in its own regard for finance. Also, the energy volume developed would be marginal.

When you understand the thermo, you'll see there's no way to substantially improve this to meet climate, energy, it even long term financial needs...

CO2 compression is an academic approach. There's nothing technical still needed to be developed.

So, why isn't it financially profitable to scale it to meet climate trouble now? Why aren't they don't it everywhere possible? It's a paper shuffle...

For a moment, consider how the limits to harvest and externalized financial costs of your proposal impact the LCOE and volume of energy - especially compared to alternatives. Think it through... Climate foolish.

@claysd @philaroneanu Again, it's difficult to put thermo in tweets, so it's ok to misfire, but your not understanding my argument is NOT my argument being wrong. It's not that CCUS can't be done, it's that it's foolish. Climate foolish and energetically foolish - so, eventually, financially foolish.
