It is frustrating that Okanagan vintners now face trade barriers on both sides: American and Canadian.
We can’t control what the White House does. We can act here at home.
I tabled E-Petition E-7258, created by Ron Kubek of Lightning Rock Winery, calling on the Carney Liberals to get off the sidelines and support Bill C-262 so Canadians can buy Canadian wine, beer and spirits and have Canada Post or other trusted carriers deliver made-in-Canada products nationwide.
The time for action is now. Bill C-262 is ready.
In Bill C-39 the Liberals are giving unprecedented power for the Minister to decide what is and what is not in the "public interest".
Get used to seeing more of this...
Coming up on 6 years for me. I am now fine most days. As long as I do not try and work too hard on too many things. I can’t ramp it up without triggering panic attacks. Caring too much about my work and chasing unrealistic goals fucked me up for at least a decade.
Today’s $1.2B is Coast Guard and DFO monitoring money. In June, Transport Canada answered Q-1078 on cuts to the Dangerous Goods Directorate, the inspectors who oversee hazardous cargo. Radar is not an inspector. How many of those jobs does this restore? https://t.co/d5kncXXHTK
People are very upset about the privatization of airport operations but are not about the privatization of rail operations. It’s bizarre.

Ottawa is already running a massive deficit, yet the projected cost of the Alto high-speed rail project could reach $90 billion. Worse, the estimate assumes construction costs far below the average of comparable international projects. Taxpayers deserve much greater caution before another megaproject moves ahead. #cnpoli #budget

DOCUMENTS @TBS_Canada:
It’s up to federal departments to decide what text messages they conceal from the public, says Treasury Board. Electronic records may be destroyed “as appropriate.”

"So I think it's fair to say there's some foreshadowing if, you know, the prime minister was looking at the current rosy political environment and saying it might be a good time to try my hand at an even bigger majority government."
"Both of the incumbent governments in Quebec and in B.C. are facing very real consequences for having played that hand." @KatlynHarrison
I’m so mad. The @liberal_party is not what I thought it was. They are funding a high speed rail line that is about to destroy existing communities. Take the money and fund healthcare. Unhousing homeowners in a housing crisis doesn’t solve any problems. It creates new ones.
I hope whoever gets this contract learns from Alto and the government of Canada’s mistakes. Their method is essentially “how not to get support for your project”.
NEW: The Government of Alberta will be seeking bids from private sector proponents for high-speed passenger rail between Calgary and Edmonton with airport connections. A successful proponent will be forwarded to the Major Projects Office.
Yep. If I get displaced for the Alto project I will be very tempted to just sell everything and either live in a van or leave this country. I don’t know how I’d be able to own land again and trust it was actually something I could rely on.
We have been travelling around Canada /Usa for the last couple weeks in our camper van .
We have parked at some nice places & also at some rest areas when needed.
I'm starting to think a lot more people are living in their cars than you think 🤔
@mindingottawa@hollyanndoan@VIA_Rail Ok I am triggered.this weekend I went to Montreal for the bike race & we took Via.NEVER AGAIN! A trip which took us 4.5 hours in 1993 now takes 6 hrs base then we spent an extra 2 hrs each way due to metrolinx work on the tracks & the fare was more than a flight. A disgrace
I requested a briefing note on September 3. Just the note. Today I got a letter that the earliest I will get it is mid-December. It is one short briefing note. The ATIP process is being used to keep the documents out of my hands, not to deliver them promptly or unredacted.

Canadian PM Mark Carney, who resists unwelcome information, recently intoned that the absurd hated ALTO high-speed Laurentian rail project to blast through farmland and cottages so people can get from Toronto to Montreal slightly faster is popular. What else doesn't he know?
