Truth most people need to hear:
You can't be an entrepreneur if you can't solve simple problems on your own.
Nearly every piece of information in human history is available with a few keystrokes.
There are literally zero excuses.
Three years ago, I, a 32-year-old woman at the time, started learning HTML, CSS and JS on my own.
Now I've been in my job as a front-end developer and accessibility specialist for 2 years and became a GDE (Google Developer Expert).
Consistency and curiosity made it possible.
I had a long conversation with a creator who is struggling to get traction.
One of the interesting nuggets that came out of the conversation was a concept I think about called:
Self-select In vs. Self-Select Out
The idea is a pretty simple one.
When someone comes across your content they should be able to do 1 of 2 things:
1. Self select in:
They should decide that the movement you’re building, the values you share, the strong opinions you hold…they are 100% in.
2. Self select out:
They are 100% out. They disagree and don’t feel what you’re putting down.
Unfortunately, so many creators are just in the middle.
They are helpful and kind but they have no stake in the ground.
No strong opinion.
No movement.
No mantra.
Do you?
Something to consider as you continue to build and create.
Hope that’s helpful.
Haven't you noticed that as you escalate up the corporate hierarchy, presentations, creativity, persuasion, sales and negotiations become predominant?- Non-negotiables!
Soft skills are your character. It's right that better communication gets you a job over just hard skills because if you can't express, then what's the point?
Google, Microsoft, HP, many legendary
Silicon Valley brands started in garages.
Still breaking the head for a business idea? Did you check your garage??
My content-driven business plan:
Social media is to share what I'm:
• Learning
• Thinking
• Doing
Email is to share my:
• Stories
• Systems
• Strategies
Products are to help my audience implement it all.
Simple yet effective.
