This is what the Trump admin is focused on today, when they aren’t insider trading, making everything more expensive, selling pardons, and taking bribes from cronies.

All of this Admin’s pushes in the district have unambiguously made it worse for residents. Kennedy center: absurdly stupid. East Wing / Lafayette park: disappointing and infuriating. National guard: *sigh*. Reflecting pool: total failure. The list goes on.

But we think the East Potomac case is different - thousands of people use this place weekly. While the destruction of the East Wing is a culturally significant loss, it impacts the average person very minimally. Getting rid of East Potomac park will change the lives of thousands of DMV residents who love the public recreation this place affords.

It’s why we see so much pushback - because the people who actually use this place know (1) what is going to happen and (2) that their lives are going to change.

This is not to say that all the other pushes in the District are not reckless and borderline criminal. It’s just to call out the unique situation that this case represents.
