⚡️This is the anatomy of why people feel poorer even when the macro data says they are wealthier.
The deepest signal is not that coffee is up 123% or eggs 86%. It is that the price of participating in ordinary life has ratcheted upward across almost every gateway at once.
Shelter. Cars. Insurance. Electricity. Food. Transportation. Healthcare.
Those are not luxuries. They are the admission ticket to adulthood.
So the real economic damage is larger than “purchasing power fell.” The minimum amount of income and capital required to form a household, buy a home, raise children, commute, insure assets, and maintain a normal middle-class life has moved sharply higher.
That changes behavior.
People delay marriage.
Delay children.
Stay with parents longer.
Rent longer.
Take fewer risks.
Need two incomes where one once worked.
Become more dependent on asset appreciation just to keep pace with the denominator.
And this connects directly to demographics.
Inflation can hollow out the reproductive base of a society without ever appearing as a demographic policy.
Raise the price of shelter, healthcare, childcare, transportation, food, and energy enough, and fertility falls through economics rather than decree.
Then the age structure worsens.
Then fewer workers support more retirees.
Then fiscal pressure rises.
Then governments need more nominal growth and more debt.
Then the monetary system has even more incentive to tolerate inflation.
That is the loop.
And the cruelest part is the asset divide.
If you already owned the house, stocks, land, business, Bitcoin, gold, whatever, a large part of the inflation wave repriced your assets upward.
If you were trying to enter the system through wages alone, the ladder moved while you were climbing it.
That is why younger people can look at strong GDP, record wealth, expensive homes, booming equities and still feel like the system is getting further away.
Because aggregate wealth can rise while access to wealth collapses.
That is the deeper story in this chart.
The system did not simply make everything more expensive.
It raised the price of becoming an adult inside it.
Of course, no “tampering,” no “poaching”…just coincidence LSU fired its coach and hired NC State’s within minutes. The USF coach warned other programs to “stay away from my players.” Then, HE was gone…so, nobody had to stay away from HIM. The double standard is laughable. Let’s stop complaining about player choice when coaches leave at the first chance for a better situation for themselves.
Please never normalize the fact that over 24 hours later, we still don't know anything about the ICE agents who killed Alex Pretti. No names. No details. Because they are masked, anonymous, and being protected by the state.
The number of people gleefully defending shooting a man on the ground with 4 or 5 guys on top of him kicking him and punching him in MN today is disgusting. I covered police shootings. No police dept. in
America could do this and not have a comprehensive hearing/trial afterward.
Btw if this is basketball to you, then you forfeit the right to complain about…
❌Reduced participation rates
❌Dwindling attendance numbers
❌How USA develops players (NBA/USA🏀 recommends 24-sec shot clock for grades 9-12, and 30-sec for ages 12-14)
Hey crypto-fam, how those memes been doing?
Friendly reminder: #Bitcoin is 12% off the ATH.
If your crypto portfolio isn't up many multiples (in USD) in the last 2 years, then you aren't investing, you're gambling.
If the last month since I tweeted this hasn't made it clear to you yet between $Trump & $Libra, let me: memes are fully extractive & exploitive. If you aren't an insider, you're the mark.
Don't listen to charlatan CT accounts telling you to all-in WIF or SPX6900 or any of that other dogshit. Again, nobody is going to buy your bag in 2 years and in the meantime you're just recycling CT capital getting taxed by exchanges in a negative-sum game.
99% of you, including you most likely, probably aren't as sharp as you think you are. Just stack Bitcoin and do something more productive with your time.
@NewStripeCity No. Club/organization does not matter at all at this age. Only the coach and what their practices look like. Most important thing is kids falling in love with the sport and find a coach to develop that. Everything should be developmental and teaching HOW to play, not plays.
I voted for her. I think he’s a bad guy.
But if you lose the senate, house, electoral college AND popular vote, and you think the lesson is half the country is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and stupid… wrong lesson. And the same thing will likely happen in 2028.
It’s also kind of interesting to think about how one of the sharpest and most successful gamblers of all time fell so hard for such an obvious con from a hilarious orange man
@SethBurn Me too. I'm not exactly young. I'm almost 40. They've been pretty clearly one of the more neutral orgs out there. And the sites that track/measure bias have them labeled as center. I promise you, with first hand knowledge of employees working there, if anything, they lean left
@SethBurn Based on what? Truly shocked why you think this. Do you have anything to support this at all because as an org they are pretty close to neutral as you'll ever find
@drivelinekyle Appreciate the answer. That's kinda what I figured. Been toying with finding a club and giving OTB a shot, but I'm only 1600 ish rapid. Don't really want to go get embarrassed
@drivelinekyle Been cool to see you playing OTB. Just curious, what's your rapid rating and how much close does https://t.co/jxeUSNDK7c rapid ratings match up with OTB tournaments
Whatever your feelings about the Trump shooting, it’s worth pointing out that if a Secret Service team can’t protect a presidential candidate, maybe expecting Mrs. Krabappel to protect her 4th grade students from an active shooter is unrealistic.
The tendency of political types to be Outraged About Something All The Time makes it much less likely that normies will be outraged about the things that they actually *should* be outraged about.
