Jessica Blaylock sits down with Cristina Safille -- who will throw out the first pitch today -- to discuss Safille's battle with breast cancer and the joy she finds in motherhood.
Actor Kevin James once did a 40 day fast while praying for his daughter during a serious crisis concerning her health and well being.
He embraced intense prayer, self-denial and intercession, offering the fast to God for her.
His daughter eventually recovered. Looking back on what happened, James said: “God heard my prayers.”
This is the type of sacrifice the Bible talks about.
Stephen A. Smith says he only took home ONE-THIRD of his annual income living in California.
His ESPN salary alone is $20,000,000 a year. That means the government took over $13,300,000 in taxes.
He now lives in Florida.
SMITH: "I can't stand high taxes. And if y'all think I'm lying, federal income tax is nearly 40% for people in my range. And then on top of it all is an additional 13.6% in the state of California. And we ain't even getting the LA city tax, and we ain't getting the FICA, and Social Security and disability."
"You walking home with less than 34% of your money messing around in California! I got a problem with that."
"It's similar in New York. I got a problem with that. So because of that, I speak out against liberal policies that come to take your money."
Here is what the tax breakdown looks like on a $20,000,000 salary:
• Federal income tax (37% top rate): ~$7,360,000
• California income tax (13.3% top rate): ~$2,630,000
• California SDI payroll tax (1.2%, no cap): ~$240,000
• Medicare (2.35% for top earners): ~$470,000
• Social Security (capped): ~$11,000
TOTAL: Over $10,700,000 a year, before property taxes, sales taxes, and city business taxes.
Florida state income tax: $0.
That means Smith saves over $2,870,000 a year ($7,860 a day) on state income taxes alone. Sales tax is also 2.75% cheaper in Florida. No wonder he moved.
Supporters of high property taxes sued over the language of the ballot summary for Amendment 3, the measure to increase homestead exemptions for homeowners.
A judge ordered it to be re-written and I’m pleased to see that the new language polls even higher than the old language.
Thanks!
Jonathan Sia was only 23 years old and just one week away from graduating when he was hospitalized with a kidney disorder.
After being intubated, he could no longer speak. In his final moments, his father said Jonathan began gesturing as though he could see someone.
He handed him a pen and paper, and although Jonathan was barely strong enough to hold it, he managed to write three words: “Jesus is real.”
Seconds later, his heart stopped. Jonathan passed away with a smile on his face.
Rest in peace.
HILARIOUS: Bill Maher: “Trump is so mad at Canada, he renamed Lake Ontario Lake America… Liberals are very pissed at this. They say you can’t just go around renaming to suit your political agenda. Just ask any Latinx birthing person.”
NUKED!
This is the priest who died on the Titanic to hear confessions and administer last rites.
Given the opportunity to board a lifeboat on two separate occasions, Father Thomas Byles firmly declined. He chose instead to stay behind, absolving sins and consoling the doomed passengers.
Following the vessel's collision with the iceberg, he assembled the remaining crowds on the aft deck.
Those who lived through the disaster recalled him standing bravely amid the panic, listening to confessions, granting collective absolution, and reciting the Rosary right up until the ocean claimed the stern.
This is the type of story we should elevate, heroic virtue. May the Lord bless us with more holy men possessing the courage of Father Thomas Byles.
