'Salafi' and 'Wahhabi' have become mainstream insults. This is why I reject them as slurs:

The Salaf (forefathers) are the righteous first three generations of Muslims. This includes the noble companions of the prophet (pbuh), may God be pleased with them. They are one and the same as "ahl ul-sunnah wal-jamaa'ah" (the followers of the sunnah and the united Islamic community).

Therefore, all Muslims should be followers of the Salaf. Salafi should be a general positive affirmation rather than a source of sectarianism or asabiyyah (factionalism).

If a group abuses the name or path of the Salaf, we should correct them, not grant them an exclusive monopoly over such a dignified label.

Al-Wahhab is one of the names of God. It means the Bestower.

'Wahhabi' has become a general insult against any Muslim, especially a Sunni.

It is also used by the ignorant to push people away from monotheism (tawheed).

Historically, it was coined by opponents to attack the followers of the scholar Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. Abd al-Wahhab means Servant of the Bestower. Therefore, the term 'Wahhabi' linguistically attempts to link a derogatory label to a divine attribute of Allah Himself.

Whilst I know that many people don't intend to use these terms in a negative and derogatory way, I believe we should refrain from using them as slurs. They belong to Islam, not online arguments or sectarian and geopolitical disputes.

1) losing faith in Allah
2) questioning Allah’s decree

So when such hardships strike, remember that you have 4 choices on how to behave

1) become bitter, angry, or resentful. You question and disagree with Allah’s decree. This is sinful
2) show patience
3) be pleased with Allah’s decree
4) be thankful for Allah’s decree - and this is the best of the 4

I'll say it again: Muslims should not join any leftist movement led by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana.

This is a strategic mistake which will stall the community's development.

We should definitely have cordial relations with Your Party and cooperate on matters of mutual concern, like Gaza and Islamophobia. Maybe we should even vote for them if the circumstances dictate it, although that isn't a given.

But taking leftists as our leaders and jumping on their bandwagon is a tried and tested failure with detrimental consequences for our iman and independence.

Do Israel supporters know it's over for them? Like, they know they're going to be despised for the rest of their lives, right? That they will never, ever live down the fact that they supported a live-streamed genocide? And that it'll only get worse as history clarifies things?

Surely they must realize this by now. Surely they must realize that nothing they do for the rest of their lives will ever be as significant as the fact that they played cheerleader for genocide and all of Israel's demented warmongering, long after normal people realized it was the wrong thing to do. That in the eyes of the world they will all always be first and foremost someone who supported and defended history's first live-streamed genocide.

I wonder what that's like, knowing that about yourself? If that was me maybe I'd be pushing for World War Three as well, I dunno. Maybe I'd hope we could turn the whole world into Gaza and let the flames wash away human memory of the things we had done. That enough death and destruction spread out across enough of the earth would make my crimes look small in comparison or something.

It won't work, though. Everyone's always going to remember what they did. Their grandchildren will be disgusted by them. Their families will carry their shame for generations.

What a terrible way to be.
