OH..SO WHAT IF BRYAN’S “CURE” WAS NEVER THE WHOLE CURE?

Bryan spends the entire movie believing that getting the package to the hospital might save him. He gets bitten, watches the infection spread through his body, and somehow still keeps moving because that delivery is his only hope. And when he finally reaches the lab, the scientists actually manage to make the antidote.

For a few seconds, it looks like Bryan might actually pull this off.

Then his body says, “Absolutely not.”

He transforms before they can successfully administer it, kills the scientists while desperately trying to remain human, and the syringe falls from the hospital. The movie leaves Bryan’s fate and the cure’s fate brutally unresolved.

BUT HERE'S WHERE THE THEORY GETS CRAZY

Some fans are connecting Bryan's failed cure to Elpis from Resident Evil Requiem.

And this is where you have to be careful: the 2026 movie does not establish that Bryan had Elpis, or that Elpis is secretly the cure he was carrying. The movie identifies his package as a component needed by the scientists to complete their treatment. Elpis is a separate piece of Resident Evil lore revealed in Requiem as a powerful antiviral created by Spencer.

But as a fan theory?

OH, THAT OPENS A VERY INTERESTING DOOR.

Because Requiem establishes that Elpis is capable of neutralizing virus-based bioweapons, while Cregger's movie ends with Bryan's antidote literally disappearing into the darkness.

So suddenly you start wondering:

What if the cure Bryan delivered was never meant to be the ultimate answer?

What if it was simply one step toward something much bigger?

And here's the cruelest part: Bryan spends the entire movie carrying humanity's chance of survival while completely unaware of how important his delivery actually is. He finally gets it where it needs to go... only to become the monster that destroys the people capable of using it.

That's such a Resident Evil ending.

The man carrying salvation becomes the reason salvation is lost.

And if you're connecting that to the larger mythology surrounding Elpis, it makes the whole thing even more fascinatingnot because the movie confirms Bryan had it, but because the franchise has now established another, much larger antiviral lurking in the background of its timeline.

Bryan thought he was delivering the cure.

Maybe he was only delivering the first piece of a much bigger story.

And knowing #ResidentEvil...
