@BadgerStew On my way out I saw a woman, her baby, and her parents going to vote. The lady had to help her parents with translating the voter registration forms and the parents kept the baby happy during the wait. It was a touching scene. 🥹
@linav8 My public library system makes Memory Kits or Engagement Kits for this purpose. https://t.co/6sTKfuwfET
Here's an ALA article about them: https://t.co/oDBSWQ5xKS
@QueenOfRats I'm on day three of not being able to look to my left because I made a weird turn in my sleep.
Being over 40 is fun for the most part, but these random injuries need to stop.
@alisonburnis I used to talk over dinner plans with an old co-worker at an old job, and it was a lovely part of my day. Hope you find someone at your new place who offers the same comfort.
@LibraryBabbitt Likely, this just shows that our (library workers) efforts to provide seamless access to books, journal articles, etc is successful. Students are getting access to things without knowing who is managing that access. Go us, I guess?
@DanRShafer Sort of related, but many Milwaukee County suburbs have museum passes available to checkout. You can use an MPL card to check them out. https://t.co/YyFeDJ9lRo
Thankfully, the district believes all titles will be returned to circulation soon, but it illustrates the idiocy of the current moment, where some parents would rather ban literature for all students than have simple conversation with their kid and their teachers.
@CorriHess @twiceanya One of the most stupid things about this is that in nearly all libraries, (probably all, but I don't have time to verify) kids' library cards are co-signed by a guardian who already can have access to their account. What a stupid waste of time.
