The CJEU ruled this week that British people have indeed had their EU Citizenship removed.
Will the EU Commission allow this to happen to Polish or Hungarians? Or to French or Italian people if their countries decide to leave the EU?
Doesn’t anyone think it’s a bit ridiculous how EU/EEA/Swiss citizens can visit the UK for 6 months per visit yet British people can only visit a Schengen country for 3 months and not at all if they’ve already had 3 months in a different Schengen country. Is that crap negotiation?
I don’t want to spend the next 6 years of my life reading bitches and moans about the impacts of Brexit. I want to actually be doing something about it or else thinking about something else now, if no one else really cares about changing any of it.
FOM might have ended for now
But UK took away work and settlement rights, whilst leaving generous provision for short term visits.
Yet EU/EEA/CH countries took away work, settlement **and also** severely curtailed short term visitation rights too.
Brexit hurts Brits.
Well it was not an unexpected result although the judges admitted that their hands were tied by the international treaty signed by the negotiators who couldn't have cared less about our European Citizenship...
I’m sorry. Is this what our European citizenship is really worth ? I can’t believe that is so week.
Once a European Citizen, Always a European Citizen !
Or at least that is what we will always feel our acquiered rights should be inviolable Should be!
We are in Luxembourg at the moment. Tired after a very short night. But confident that something good will come out of today. The result will be read out at 9.30 this morning.
If our case C-673/20 fails it will only be because certain negotiators have signed an International Treaty post Brexit. International treaties are inviolable and override national law, something that the PM is finding out about the Good Friday agreement...
The question we have to ask ourselves is Who wanted us EUBritizens to be disadvantaged to the extent that we have been or Were we just collateral damage done by people who didn't understand their dossiers fully?
Dear All, It would be a good idea if people could write to their prospective candidates for the french legislative elections; pointing out how unfair it was for us EUBritizens to have lost our rights to vote in the municipal and EU elections...
Letters from individual people to individual candidates are always more persuasive and authentic than round robins.
Our plight is largely ignored by most of the politicians in France. It would be good if we can catch them at the source so to speak...
All these new trade deals are just so confusing. All the terms are different. Would be nice to have some consistency between them all. None seem to include Freedom of Movement of People which is what really matters.
