To provide C3S users with access to quality-assured observations of upper-air weather data for temperature, wind and humidity also requires detailed discussions. Great day online and at ECMWF in Bonn @CopernicusECMWF@monicaproto#Climate#insitu#observations#database
A long, busy and successful week at #ATMOS2024 has come to an end. Among all high quality posters and talks also our own EVDC Cal/Val data center was presented by @pcastracane71#ESA#calval#database
#EarthCARE is launching soon!
Did you know that according to @jaxa_en tradition, satellites are also given nicknames in addition to their ‘official’ names. The nickname chosen for EarthCARE is ‘Hakuryu’ or ‘White Dragon’ in Japanese.
The name ‘Hakuryu’ embodies the distinctive characteristics of the satellite's appearance, with its white body and solar panel resembling a long tail. In Japanese mythology, dragons are ancient and divine creatures that govern water and fly in the sky: an appropriate metaphor for a mission that will study clouds and aerosols.
Additionally, the launch year of EarthCARE in 2024 coincides with the Japanese Year of the Dragon!

Today we got the change to say goodbye to the #EarthExplorer#EarthCARE satellite - currently in @AirbusSpace cleanroom.
We will share some images soon but in the meantime, let us share what makes this mission a very cool (it has 4 instruments!) and a very important one (for our climate research):
