Sometimes one wonders whether elected leaders in this area really care about the people who elected them. The road passing through Katani Shopping Centre is no more.
@Wavinya_Ndeti
and @hon_Makau can't you engage and intervene for @KURAroads to #fixquarrykataniroad@kipmurkomen
Residents Desperate for Help As High-Ranking Gov't Officials Linked to Poor State of Katani-Syokimau Road
Hi Nyakundi.
Katani Quarry roads situated in Katani within Mavoko Constituency are barely five years old since being tarmacked.
The contractor, OGLE Constructions Capmany is associated with high-ranking government officials.
Unfortunately, during construction the road suffered from poor workmanship and drainage issues.
Despite being a crucial route supplying raw materials to the construction industry, the road lacks a maintenance contract.
Each lorry using this route pays Ksh. 3,000 per trip, making it a significant financial artery for the Machakos County government.
But the Ngelani area, which is the source of raw materials for the Nairobi Expressway construction lacks even a centimeter of tarmacked road.
In the past, residents have had to contribute money, time and manpower to unclog drainage and make some patches of the road motorable.
As residents we urgently request both levels of government to intervene in the rehabilitation of this road by KURA.
Here's a link to supporting documents.

This is a tweet from KURA in 2018 discussing this road.

We demand accountability and action from the necessary national and local governments.
With schools reopening soon, the situation will be a nightmare for children unable to travel safely to school.
Our primary concerns are the poor state of the road and the sewage system for surface runoff water (drainage).
Secondary to this are street lights.
Prioritize fixing the road first before addressing sewage/drainage infrastructure.
We require accountability and intervention from the following:
Governor: Wavinya Ndeti
MP: Peter Makau
MCA: Dominic Maitha
CEC: Rita Ndunge (Kana Rita - Machakos County Executive Committee Member (CECM) - Roads, Transport, and Public Works)
#FixQuarryKataniRoad Did you know that 90% of the current building stones in Kenya are mined in Ngelani Machakos County? Did you know that Ngelani does not have a single inch of Tarmac?Check out the state of roads from Ngelani-Katani - Mlolongo @KURAroads@Wavinya_Ndeti
Katani Centre is now a pale shadow of itself.
Overloaded trucks from the various quarries have totally destroyed this and other roads within the area.
@Machakos_Gov @hon_Makau@Wavinya_Ndeti@KURAroads get to work and arrest this situation.

Katani road has gone to the dogs. Here For how long should residents suffer?
@KURAroads, many sections of Katani/Quarry Road have not even lasted 5 years and are now CATTLE TRACKS AND CATTLE DEEPS.
@kipmurkomen@Wavinya_Ndeti#fixquarrykataniroad
The situation of our Quarry Katani road is to say the least horrendous and unacceptable, a clear product of poor workmanship. @KURAroads speed up and fix it to standards, demolish those structures dangling on the drainage systems that cause clogging. #FixQuarryKataniRoad
