To the almost 40K small businesses who let us speak for you these past few months, it has been an honour. Save Small Business is ending our campaign today. We leave with some advice for government and a message: You have to do better. A lot better.

As true in Canada as the U.S.: “The pandemic will mean the triumph of franchise chains over mom-and-pop shops...It will mean town centers filled with banks and 24-hour pharmacies rather than bookstores and nail salons and takeout counters.” Total disaster. https://t.co/JfbAiCe7O7
Re-opening will be the "big lie" of saving local community businesses. It won't be nearly enough. "Politicians can't just ‘pivot’ to recovery, they have to keep their focus on saving businesses while planning the slow reopening of the economy." #canpoli https://t.co/uvxXLC0pgT
I’m sure a few landlords will refuse to opt in, which is an extremely bad decision. All I can say is landlords who don’t participate in this....are real dicks. (Even my most dickish one has agreed)
Let me get this straight, Ontario's small garden centres/nurseries can now offer curbside pickup & delivery only, but Costco garden centres are wide open to customers? This unlevel playing field needs to end.
I did a new Podcast! I want to smash the cultural taboo that insists it's impolite to talk about money by having real & raw conversations about money. First up, @amandabella of @the_workaround who opens up about the fight of her life to save her business.

We confirmed with the federal government - ALL landlords qualify for CECRA. Ignore this working from the press release: "mortgaged property owner." It does NOT mean only landlords with mortgages qualify. Sloppy wording.

After today’s rent relief announcement I actually believe (instead of just blindly believe) we have a fighting chance. Thank you @JustinTrudeau@telfordk@fordnation
