I don't live in China as I am a 3rd generation Indonesian Chinese. I do have relatives in China whom I visit quite frequently. I have been traveling to China since 1997. So, I can tell you what I see and what I experience. More than 100M Chinese from China travel out of China every year and yet they all continue to go back to China. Do you think if the government is oppressive, the Chinese would not revolt? I have observed that some Chinese in the west with certain self interest would always use the China Bad story to gain sympathy and score sone political points. China has gone through lots of changes in the last 80 years - including some very terrible changes but it has managed to rebuild and to put itself together including successfully alleviated 800M Chinese out of extreme poverty. The China now is the China that takes care of its people better than many countries in the world.
