Steve Jobs: the visionary, obsessed with product, built the thing nobody knew they needed.

Tim Cook: the operator, took over an impossible job and grew the company from $350 billion to $5 trillion through supply chain and discipline, not vision.

Now John Ternus: 25 years as Apple's hardware engineering lead, the guy who actually built the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon transition. Reports say the board picked him specifically to bring back more decisive, product-first leadership.

Three different jobs, three different specialties. Apple keeps finding the exact right person for the exact right moment. Recognizing excellence isn't domain-specific. That's the actual skill.
