The joint agreement by Schumer and Mike Johnson will likely be strongly opposed by far-right House Republicans, who wanted significant budget cuts.

The leaders announced a deal of $886.3 billion in defense spending and $772.7 billion in domestic discretionary spending. It adheres to a previous agreement between President Biden and then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy to suspend the nation's debt limit by limiting discretionary spending to $1.59 trillion in 2024, with 1 percent growth in 2025.
