Shri @abhishekaitc has written to Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, raising serious concerns over transparency and procedural compliance in the publication of electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly elections.

In his letter, he has highlighted several critical issues:

▶️ No clear notification confirming that voters included through daily Supplementary Electoral Rolls will be treated as part of the Final Electoral Roll.

▶️ Non-compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court mandating the daily publication of Supplementary Electoral Rolls reflecting adjudication outcomes.

▶️ Lack of transparency as decisions taken by adjudicating authorities on claims and objections are not being made publicly accessible.

▶️ Absence of reasoned orders explaining why a voter’s name has been rejected or deleted, depriving citizens of the opportunity to seek legal remedies.

Our National General Secretary has demanded immediate corrective steps to ensure transparency, fairness and strict adherence to judicial directions in the electoral process. The fight to safeguard the democratic rights of the people of Bengal will continue.

I am shocked and deeply concerned by the sudden news of the resignation of Shri C. V. Ananda Bose, the Governor of West Bengal.

The reasons behind his resignation are not known to me at this moment. However, given the prevailing circumstances, I would not be surprised if the Governor has been subjected to some pressure from the Union Home Minister to serve certain political interests on the eve of the forthcoming State Assembly elections.

Union Home Minister just informed me that Shri R.N. Ravi is being appointed as Governor of West Bengal. He never consulted with me as per the established convention in this regard.

Such actions undermine the spirit of the Constitution of India and strike at the very foundation of our federal structure. The Centre must respect the principles of cooperative federalism and refrain from taking unilateral decisions that erode democratic conventions and the dignity of States.
