On the topic of whether digital communication, especially social media, is a good thing, this article argues that it should be regulated in light of the Sri Lanka bombings.

@esleejihye Hey Esther! I agree that digital communication and its positives or negatives definitely depend on the person who is using it. There's a lot that can be gained or lost depending on how it's used! #BUSM19
@maya_enos Great article Maya! There's definitely positives and negatives to digital communication, but it looks like it's here to stay in any case.

@kiyongkim Digital technology gives me the ability to communicate more quickly with friends and family, especially those who are across the country or live in other countries. Communication does sometimes become less meaningful, but overall I think it's a positive. #BUSM19
This is an old article, but the principles it provides are sound. It also gives some great examples of effective advertisement campaigns, online and otherwise. #BUSM19

@sofiasilva909@kiyongkim Hey Sofia! AR is definitely one of the most promising technologies for advertisers and campaigners. It allows the user to enter directly into the experience. Great recommendation! #BUSM19
@heeyeonhong@kiyongkim Hey Kristy! The IHOb campaign was definitely one of the most memorable in recent memory, which is probably a good sign that it worked. It was a little goofy, and some might say it made the company look goofy, but I think it went fairly well. #BUSM19
@kiyongkim One of my favorite ad campaigns, which I only learned about recently, was the "Alexa Loses Her Voice" campaign that happened around the 2018 super bowl. It involved a ton of celebrity endorsements and user Easter eggs, showing customers their reliance on the device. #BUSM19
Speaking of 404s, there was actually a pretty interesting TEDTalk about the subject. It includes some great examples of 404 pages with charm, and even explains how that can help your brand. #BUSM19

@heeyeonhong@kiyongkim Hey Kristy! I hadn't heard of Heyzap before, but after seeing their 404 page, I'm very impressed! It kind of reminds me of Chrome's "offline" dinosaur game, making the disappointing find into a game of sorts. #BUSM19
@esleejihye Hey Esther! Great example (I actually just realized that we used the same one in response to the week's question)! I tried to find a current pic, but unfortunately it appears the Center is no longer active. Too bad--this is a great 404 page, almost making a game of it. #BUSM19
@kiyongkim I don't think it's active anymore, but Email Center UK had a particularly novel one that let you "fire" one of the web designers for the error, amusing a potentially irritated customer. #BUSM19
@zarahnp Hey Sarah! Great article. I've noticed that a lot of us seemed to have stumbled upon it. Fittingly, this article about SEO seems to have pretty good SEO.

@kkizumigawa Hey Katelin! Great graphic! It's really easy to tell the distinction between the two optimizations--the difference in target audience is particularly important.

We've been learning a lot about SEO, but is SEM (Search engine marketing) a viable option for your business or brand? Paying for traffic gives the advantage of targeted ads for users. See the link below for more info.

@kiyongkim SEO is all about getting search engine crawlers to list your site higher on the results, while SMO focuses on creating engagement on social media platforms. SMO also has less time to draw in a user. The article below gives more info. #BUSM19

I walked into this man's class with a course drop sheet in my hand. After listening to him speak for five minutes, I folded it up and put it away. He was that genuine, kind and loving. We'll miss you, Prof Simon.
@SarahHartono@kiyongkim Hey Sarah! Great suggestions for SEO apps. It's important to know what needs to improve, so these can definitely help for finding out what's not working. #BUSM19
@SarahHartono Hey Sarah! Good point--graphics, especially on social media, are rising in prominence. Social media managers need to know how to combine design with functionality in their posts.

As SEO becomes increasingly important, it's good to have a variety of apps in your toolbox. Buffer, itself a strong scheduling tool, gives some suggestions.
