@aaolomi This is the kind of delusional thinking that prevents there from ever being actual peace. "We are winning in 48, we are winning in 67, we are winning in 73 etc etc."
@aaolomi around 35 Israeli soldiers have been killed in Lebanon over the last three weeks, a handful more over the course of the last year in cross border fire/missile exchanges. The 800 is mostly Gaza fighting. It's a small country, everyone knows everyone. Thats the "real" number.
@cenkuygur Yes, because there is so much peace within Arab countries. They can't even guarantee peace in their own countries. And the main threat to the region currently is Iran. If Iran (not an Arab country obviously) begins making these kind of statement its another thing altogeher...
@sfrantzman Everything you’ve written makes a ton of sense except this: “but Hezbollah must be wondering…if Israel’s goal is just to send in tanks and then leave…that’s not a big deal.” If there are Israeli tanks in Beirut, and Beirut looks like Khan Younis, that would be a very big deal…
@Riles23@AkivaMCohen Why should it? It’s targeting “political moderates.” The official GOP position is now something they believe at least some larger portion of Americans will find reasonable. They aren’t responsible for more extreme positions in more conservative states in this narrative.
@AkivaMCohen I think the idea is to have cohesive messaging as a party? Right now the GOP brand is identified with an outright ban from conception, no exceptions. Political poison. A 15 week ban is something that is maybe more mainstream? They’ve caught the car, this is damage control.
