As Igbo kids, we grew up without knowing what tribalism meant.
The only thing we knew were 'THE TRIBES OF NIGERIA'.
Unlike you Yoruba kids, NOBODY taught us to hate any tribe or to avoid our fellow kids who are not Igbo.
Summary:
If you live in Owerri, NOBODY will notice you.
I just got married to an amazing Igbo man and I hope when our children grow up, people like you won't exist anymore. Or would have changed their ways. You're disgusting.
This might save your life one day. No exaggeration.
1. Never enter a room without noticing who noticed you first.
People's first reaction tells you everything.
2. If someone walks too close behind you, stop pretending to be normal — turn your head slightly so they know you're aware. Awareness scares danger.
3. When sitting in a cab, always keep one ear free and one hand visible. Predators avoid people ready to react.
4. Never tell strangers your exact destination. Say, “I'm meeting someone there.” It removes you from the “alone” category.
5. If someone asks for help at night, don't go closer. Call for help from a distance. Real victims never mind extra voices.
6. Whenever entering crowded areas, identify “safe spots” — a store, a guard, a lit area. You should always know where safety is.
7. If your instinct says “Something is off,” don't negotiate with it. It's your brain noticing danger before you consciously do.
This Peter Obi who schooled Osinbajo on Petrol subsidy.
Listen to Peter Obi's stand on subsidy. See how detailed he is. This was 2019. 7 years ago.
Agbado members - Both Tinubu and Peter Obi agreed to remove subsidy.
My American colleagues laughed when I brought jollof rice to the office potluck.
I was the only Nigerian in a team of 25 in California. Someone whispered
“Is that spicy ketchup rice?”
I smiled and kept quiet, but inside I was embarrassed.
By lunchtime the entire tray was gone.
People kept coming back for seconds, asking for the recipe, and one girl said
“This is better than my grandma’s jambalaya!”
My boss even joked that we should make it a monthly thing.
That day taught me something powerful… what feels too different or too much in our culture is often what people love most about us.
Stop shrinking your flavor to fit in.
Some years back, I went with a religious body for an outreach at Degema Prison, Rivers State.
We were briefed by the officials on the Do's and Don't's and the dangers of breaking the rules, after which we proceeded into the prison.
While at it, a young man told us something that was so troubling...
"If I leave this place, I might never attend church ever again because God forsook me! " - he said.
We were all surprised, so we pushed further for details, and that's where we heard some very disturbing things.
He said...
"I am a very strong churchgoer. I don't miss any church activity as I'm a choir member, usher, I clean, do most work without collecting a penny from the church, but one thing I'm not is a bootlicker...
I began noticing that the church branch I attended has a few well-to-do individuals who have different interests, so they recruit their own click to help push their interests by lobbying other churchgoers.
The pastor became my tight friend and stood by me in anything I wanted to do, as concerns my personal life. So when the time to elect a youth leader came, the pastor gave me his full backing and even mentioned it countlessly during service.
I believed everything was going my way, until the police raided my house, a night to the election, and I was arrested... The following day, which happened to be the election day, I was sent to prison for the rape of a minor. Mind you, when this girl came to the police station to write her statement, I never recognized her but the lawyer assigned to me pointed her to me and told me to just say I'm guilty so he'll have enough time to go through my case and file for an appeal.
Till today, not even my pastor has visited me, and I sent messages to him and other members.
Please help me in any way. The lawyer they gave me has abandoned me."
... The matter was quite delicate because it was a rape case, and it was alleged to have been committed against a minor (15) years old, who claimed to be his neighbor.
When we left the prison, the outreach committee decided to pick up the case, so a private investigator was contracted to do the job...
After a month, we re-conveined for feedback and to decide on our next course of action, and that was where everything took a new shape:
The pastor was in bed with all factions of the church and had promised them a level playground devoid any external challenger. (The boy was seen as the only worthy challenger so the pastor brought him close, for the sole purpose of "cultivating" him.)
Three weeks to the election, the "Church big men" (Factional leaders) had told the pastor not to worry, as things had already been taken care of...
3 days to the election, the man got into an unnecessary fight with someone who swore to do him dirty... (But that was created by the church to grant them a cover).
The young man was framed by the daughter of a 43 year old lady, at the instructions of her mother, who was quickly paid and relocated to Nsit Atai in Akwa Ibom (by the church) after the man had been convicted.
The lawyer whom the man thought was 'assigned' to him, was in the employ of another faction in the same church branch.
Everything was orchestrated to send the man to prison with every option of return quashed with no traces to them, so they could have an unchallenged grip of that branch.
After all the findings, another lawyer was funded by the outreach and that case was revisited... He was released after serving 2 years.
The outreach became compromised because the various factions of that church reached out, made some donations which included buses and cash, with the condition that their involvement in his case wouldn't be exposed.
The pastor relocated to Germany with his family, and till date, Peace doesn't know who betrayed him.
Well, I was going through my old jotter last night and saw where I jotted everything down.
Mr. Peace, I know this post would find you, but your church and pastor set you up!
🍀The testimonies have been many. If you or your kid is battling asthma, use this remedy
🍀 Harvest the whole plant of Euphorbia hirta (asthma plant, twi: kakaweadwe, yuroba: emi-ile) and boil with ginger for about 30mins. Take 4 tablespoonful 2-3daily for 1 month. You can or not choose to add pure honey. Say bye bye to it
Here is how to make an electricity-free fridge to keep your foodstuffs fresh for up to 4 weeks.
Take a smaller pot and place it inside a bigger pot. Fill the space between them with wet sand and cover the top with a wet cloth.
This keeps your vegetables fresh. Let’s go natural.

Dear well-meaning Nigerians, the presidential candidate of the @NigeriaNDCHQ has consistently encouraged us not to relent in our quest for a Nigeria that works.
A Nigeria where the safety of lives and property is a top priority.
A Nigeria where elected officials do not play politics with governance.
A Nigeria where accountability is valued above sycophancy.
A Nigeria where our resources are properly harnessed, and human development is central. Where education is affordable, accessible, and the welfare of citizens is truly improved.
To build this Nigeria, Peter Obi needs you, and I need you, to register for your PVCs (voter’s card), so we are eligible to vote and defend our votes.
For those in Abuja, we will be hosting a PVC registration party this Saturday at Uzzitzz Event Centre, Mabushi.
Come, engage, and have a good time while we help you resolve any PVC-related challenges.

And in my next Public Memo, I will make a case for immediate steps towards the agenda of actions for the restructuring and constitutional processes. Watch out for it.
Let’s move immediately on the Restructuring Agenda through a brand-new citizens-led constitutional process and save our beleaguered country and people.
No more tragically costly delays.

End.
This is called okpogho. It was a currency of the Igbo in the past. Those days, there was nothing like "money na water," if not, how would you carry a lot of this?
This is called ego igwe. When you hear ego igwe, this is what you think about. It's a symbol of value and not value itself.
Value creation. Problem solving. Trade by barter.
There's a community in Ezeagụ called Okpogho known for producing this metal. The Efik and Ibibio also used okpogho in the past. Infact, it's still a word for money.
From okpogho comes ego ayọrọ— cowries. Remember, not only the Igbo land cowries were used as legal tender — it's mostly used in many African and Asian nations in the past.
The European colonists came and introduced paper money and coins— which is also metal. The paper money na-agba anyị ara.
When you understand the history of currency, you will discover that our people have deviated and gone stray today.
We don't worship money, we create values. We are hardworking people in trades and skills. Our intention is to solve problem and live comfortably by working.
Money isn't Igbo tradition. It's not Igbo value system. While money is important, what's more important is doing legit work, solving a problem, and serving humanity through our skills. Oji ọfọ ga-ala.

It will be tone deaf and incredibly stupid for any African artist, actor, DJ or host to go and perform in South Africa
