Framing of the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo & Uganda by the international media is troubling for its wanton failure to distinguish the evidently and vastly different trends unfolding in the 2 neighbouring countries. With @ACME_Africa, there is a better way:

In a society where social media is amplifying moral outrage, and character assassination for virtue signaling, our redemption relies on truth, @SueNsibirwa is a quality human being who deserves utmost respect in a country where we have few people to inspire us๐
I worked with @SueNsibirwa btn 2011-2019 as her supervisor when she headed our marketing function. Not once was she ever apprehended as a suspect in or charged with a criminal offense. In fact, she left two years before me with her record of high integrity & stellar performance. I am certain that her current employer would have done a due diligence before entrusting her with her present role. If what is being said about her now were true it would have come out long ago from more credible sources.
What does feminist leadership look like to you?
For us, it means accountability, empathy, inclusion and courage to challenge systems that exclude women and girls.

The Stories We Choose to Tell
Today, I hosted a sit-down conversation with my #WalkTalkConnect guest, Edgar R Batte.
One thing that matters tremendously to me about WalkTalkConnect is that it remains a deliberately inclusive space. While many of the conversations happen during walks, I recognize that not everyone is able to move around with ease. Sometimes, connection simply looks different.
So today, Edgar and I sat. And in many ways, it felt fitting because Edgar is a man who understands slowness, attentiveness, and the quiet power of story.
A storyteller at heart, he began writing as a teenager. His love for stories started with his father, who brought newspapers and books home regularly. Those small acts opened a world for him.
Long before he worked for @DailyMonitor, Edgar submitted two articles to the paper. He still remembers the thrill of seeing one published for the first time. In fact, he still keeps that newspaper.
Over the years, he has covered sports, travel, arts, and culture, earning several awards along the way. But beyond the accolades, what struck me most was how he sees the world.
Edgar is thoughtful and methodical. He observes carefully. He does not rush. He sits with stories. Turns them over. Looks at them from different angles. Then builds them carefully, almost like an architect laying one brick upon another.
One thing he spoke passionately about was Ugandaโs untold stories.
Through a project he pitched called The Uganda I Love, Edgar sought to remind us that Uganda is more than its political headlines. Politics matters, yes. It shapes us. But it is not the only story we carry.
That resonated with me profoundly.
When CivSource began documenting stories of generosity and giving in Uganda, our hope was similar: to spotlight the kindness, care, and humanity that hold communities together every single day.
On any given day, countless Ugandans are sharing their time, talent, and compassion with others. And yet, those stories rarely make the front page.
If we want to change how we see ourselves, we must also change the stories we tell about ourselves.
And as Edgar reminded me today, that work is slow, deliberate, and deeply important.
