Very excited to announce our latest research on carbon capture!
We developed a platform to screen materials for carbon capture, integrating material properties, process performance, technoeconomics, and life cycle assessments!

📢Starting with a DFT calculation on a MOF, and years of work with an incredible team, we can now predict how much #CO2 this MOF can capture over a plant’s lifetime and at what net cost. Excited to share our findings in @Nature https://t.co/1CVMjHr83t @HWU_RCCS@HeriotWattUni
Excited to share FutureCite, our (me + @achichat!) new abstract analysis tool for researchers! 📚 Built w/ @AnthropicAI's API for the Claude hackathon, it helps:
- Summarizes key points
- Categorize research topics
- Score relevance & impact

A theme at Mission Innovation was the Valley of Death: Chemists making two new materials each day but no tools to evaluate their performance in a carbon capture process. This started an accidental discussion with @sgarclopez on how to cross this valley.1/n https://t.co/04PvMYjyEp
Do you want to push the boundaries on how we design, discover, and understand new materials? 👩🏼🔬
I'm starting a lab where we will use data-driven techniques to design materials that work in the real world - and I'm looking for Ph.D. students and PostDocs to join me!
based on this amazing "Roadmap for Achieving Scalable, Safe, and Low-cost Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage" - check it out! https://t.co/69qDbvVINv
Very proud to have been part of this #prisma work with John Young, @SmitBerend, @sgarclopez & @MijndertS!
It's a really nice application of what you can do with machine learning to find what a 'unicorn' adsorbent would look like for #DAC!
Give it a read: https://t.co/R18AAry1Oq
To address this, I teamed up w/ @andrewsrosen, @ask1729 (and, of course, @SmitBerend) to develop mofdscribe (https://t.co/wlQf4YuUZe). It attempts to accompany digital reticular chemists in all steps of the MOF ML journey - from dataset to publication.
We are recruiting @HWU_RCCS@HeriotWattUni ! Two open positions (PhD and Postdoctoral) to work on our new Direct Air Capture project on solid sorbents. Building up on our current ACT-funded PrISMa project. Get in touch if you are interested! #DAC#NETs#NetZero
An great paper from my @RCCS colleague @MijndertS on climate impacts of blue hydrogen

Carbon removal research requires collaboration across fields, and the most inspiring example I’ve seen is the research group that @sgarclopez and team are building at @HWU_RCCS near Edinburgh. Can’t wait to see what they discover over the next few years.
