Another hit-&-run horror in Abuja!

A truck, looked like an ambulance or a fire engine, crashed into a car, Toyota Camry 2023 model, along Ahmadu Bello Way by Annur Mosque Junction. Behind the wheel are kids barely 16 to 20 years old.

I witnessed how fragile life is today. I was among the first responders. We managed to pull out two survivors, the driver & his friend directly behind him. The police rushed them to Maitama Hospital. But the boy in the front seat died instantly. The chubby kid in the back still had a pulse, but he was trapped. For three hours.

We waited. No rescue. No emergency services. Inside Abuja city, 3hours & still no help. Road safety & police arrived, but like us, they were powerless & helpless. We used jacks, wheel spanners, even cutlasses, later chains came which a Good Samaritan offered to drag with his car, all in vain, trying to free that boy. I pray he makes it. I came back home with blood stains all over. It’s heartbreaking 💔 😭.

May God rest the departed & heal the wounded.
