All roads lead back to 9 PM bed time, 5 AM wake up, 4 hours of deep, focused work creative work first thing, leaving your notifications off, work out mid day to break it up, admin & calls in the afternoon, hang with friends and loved ones in the evening, repeat forever.
A lesson I just taught a Flexport employee is that there are two lenses you can look at the world through:
1) Doing more work is bad
2) Solving problems is how you make money
Always and forever use lens 2. More work is good if it lets you solve important problems.
Liftoff of Starship V3, from the dunes right outside the pad.
This is the most insane shockwave action I have ever seen on video. Absolutely mad.

Wow... Warren Buffet says goodbye in his final annual letter today (full copy in the comments below).
As he signed off, the following were final words of advice:
"One perhaps self-serving observation. I’m happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don’t beat yourself up over past mistakes – learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them. You can start with Tom Murphy; he was the best.
Remember Alfred Nobel, later of Nobel Prize fame, who – reportedly – read his own obituary that was mistakenly printed when his brother died and a newspaper got mixed up. He was horrified at what he read and realized he should change his behavior.
Don’t count on a newsroom mix-up: Decide what you would like your obituary to say and live the life to deserve it.
Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government. When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it’s hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior.
I write this as one who has been thoughtless countless times and made many mistakes but also became very lucky in learning from some wonderful friends how to behave better (still a long way from perfect, however). Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman."
Big Bang Nucleosynthesis - when the universe acted as a giant nuclear reactor. Y-axis is amount of element, X-axis is time after big bang... ending up roughly 3 parts hydrogen, 1 part helium, and 1/100,000 parts everything else
It would take ~2x10^8 Type II (or smaller # of Type Ia) supernovae to make all iron in the Milky Way, which is 1 for every 1000 stars.
Hertzsprung-Russell diagram - factors the ratio of low vs high mass stars, justifies ~1 supernova over the last 10-12b yrs for every 1000 stars
This has to be one of the biggest ideas I've ever seen: a nuclear-powered Agro-Industrial complex.
✅ 1 billion gallons of fresh water / day from the sea
✅ 2 GW of electricity
✅ 300k-acre food factory
✅ phosphorous via electric furnace for fertilizer
✅ food for 6 million people
✅ aluminum sheet and bar stock
✅ ammonia from electrolytic hydrogen
✅ caustic and chlorine from brine electrolysis
"In economics, the Jevons paradox occurs when technological advancements make a resource more efficient to use (thereby reducing the amount needed for a single application), however, as the cost of using the resource drops, overall demand increases causing total resource consumption to rise." https://t.co/Q4ueHkwllh
Glencore approached Rio Tinto late last year about combining the two big copper producers but the discussions are no longer active, a person familiar with the matter said https://t.co/vgwHbrZNl6
The Wildlife Crossings Project in Banff, Alberta, has been a tremendous success. By integrating wildlife bridges with fencing, it has reduced animal-vehicle collisions by over 80%. For elk and deer, the results are even more impressive, with a reduction of over 96%.
