Google Maps is pretty happy too but now we've got a couple of new giant trees...

There are some brilliant reference images courtesy of @OpenSFHistory on their site. Could our photo even be 1890? https://t.co/uBTr1no7g4

Thanks to help from @CLeeEsq we now know it's San Francisco. After a bit of digging it's turned out to be Cliff House and the Sutro Baths possibly at the very start of construction around 1894 https://t.co/2JWJ6M5vpc @SFHistorical

[The Unknown Photographer @FacesInTheLight]

@CLeeEsq Oh wow, that would be brilliant!

Tankerton. A very special place in the collection.

[The Unknown Photographer @FacesInTheLight]

A wonderful picture of Tankerton by one of our regular Twitter detectives!

[Royal Meteorological Society @RMetS]

Brendan Conway @mildthing99 captured this image of people walking along shingle Street in Tankerton, Kent, exposed at low tide, as they were treated to a spectacular mock mirage sunset over the Thames Estuary
