He is the first student to earn an https://t.co/aS8NpWCJ3g. and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UNILAG.

Pastor E.A. Adeboye is 84 🇳🇬

Said his family was so poor that even the poor called them poor. He wore his first pair of shoes in 1960, at 18 years old.

In 1969 he took an https://t.co/aS8NpWCJ3g in Hydrodynamics at the University of Lagos.

In 1975 he earned a Ph.D in Applied Mathematics from the same school

He lectured Mathematics at UNILAG and later at the University of Ilorin. His dream then was to become the youngest vice-chancellor in Africa.

Married Pastor Foluke Adenike in 1967. Same year as the first degree.

He joined RCCG in 1973 after taking a sick daughter to church. He was ordained pastor in 1975.

Pastor Adeboye used to interpret Pa Akindayomi's Yoruba sermons into English. That was the first ministry desk.

He became General Overseer in 1981. For a few years he still lectured part-time at Unilorin. Then he left the classroom for the pulpit.

RCCG grew from a small Yoruba church into parishes in nearly 200 countries.

He still talks like a lecturer. Short. Numbered. Then a prayer.

The young boy who solved 186 simultaneous equations for a thesis now runs one of the largest Pentecostal networks on earth, by the Grace of God.

Let me tell you something today

You see, a title can change at anytime and a calling can interrupt a plan.

But that does not cancel the work you already did with your hands.

Pastor Adeboye did not become himself by pretending the Mathematics and all it's trajectory never happened.

What he did was just carrying the same mind into an entirely different room.

The same Precision. Discipline. Quiet consistency.

He took that from his educational progression, and into the ministry. And we can see how these core principles still brought excellence into the ministry as well.

So today, I want you to imbibe these core principles too.

Precision, Discipline and Quiet consistency.

Look at anything in your life that you have once succeeded in.

What did you do back then? How disciplined were you? How focused were you? What did you do with distractions back then?

Take those same principles that made you successful in that particular thing. And then apply these principles to whatever you are currently doing.

Most times, it's just the noise and distractions that grew louder. Not that we lost touch with our core selves.

Find a way to beat the noise and you've solved 70% of the root issue already.

In my subsequent papers, I'd try that self-citations though it's not encouraged...

Using self-citations to inflate your metrics is discouraged and not a good practice. Cite your own work when it is relevant, but excessive and unnecessary self-citation will do little to establish you as a credible researcher in your field.

Do relevant, rigorous work, and the citations will come naturally over time.
