๐จNearly 40,000 teachers quit the profession last year for reasons other than retirement - the highest in recent record and 7,800 more than in 2020-21
@JackWorthNFER described the figures as 'hugely concerning'

@ProcessEdu Thank you for this thread. You are quite right, and I represent one of 700 parents in the south west whose children suffer mental harms as a result of the current draconian behaviour systems. Schools are unpleasant places to be; it shouldn't be like that.
@NEUnion Hopefully the crisis in education references Academies and Trusts creaming off the cash and providing sub-standard education and super-sized punishments to our kids?
@ExeterCouncil do YOU have any control over schools? Parents are losing hope, children are self-harming or avoiding school altogether. The @TedWraggTrust is a malignant monopoly that we did not ask for and our children cannot endure.
Lots of talk about school attendance. But in @Devon they are wrong to blame it on Covid. It's the fault of the shocking academy/trust schools' systems and the horrendous punishments inflicted on our children. Isn't it, @QEcrediton ? @DevonLiveNews
@DevonAdmissions what provision is available for children who suffer such mental harms that they can no longer attend @TedWraggTrust schools? They are a monopoly. You need to step up. @RobHannafordExe
@WestExeSchool we have more complaints from parents, carers, children and even teachers about you and your horrible mismanaged behaviour policies than any other @TedWraggTrust school.
The report also found, based on an FOI, that the DfE is employing 555 officials to work in its Regional Director offices, overseeing academies. This is a new tier of oversight which did not exist before academies programme was expanded at scale under Michael Gove.
The 50 largest academy trusts had 167 people paid ยฃ130,000 or more, compared to only 24 within the 10 LAs โ even though the two groupings had roughly the same number of pupils under their oversight.
New: Academy trusts wasting millions of pounds on highly-paid managers

Possibly the most extensive trawl of academy accounts ever, plus analysis of LA accounts and FOIs, finds large MATs spending 8x as much per pupil on ยฃ130k+ managers as are large LAs.
An @Isaexeter parent shared that after the flooding, their kid had to wear black trainers, as approved shoes still soaked. Result = Reset! @TedWraggTrust you (and ISCA) are an absolute joke. Check our website for even WORSE stories about these fools! https://t.co/MufmD26XFH
@RogersHistory But the punishment for forgetting a pencil is the same as the punishment for insulting a teacher. The punishment for the wrong style of shoe is the same as for intimidation. This is what we are incensed about and why we will campaign until it changes. https://t.co/MufmD26XFH
Whoever thought twenty minutes for as a lunch break would do for our kids @TedWraggTrust? I bet you private school kids are not punished like this. No social time, no time to eat or use the (policed) toilets. It's unacceptable. @WestExeSchool
Fantastic article on why there needs to be a complete overhaul of OFSTED and its operations. Give some likes and follows to @NWBylines and the Byline team in your area for independent, professional journalism in your area #OFSTED#NotFitForPurpose

Nice bit of PR. Shame you turned off comments for the video. Are you afraid of parents who won't fall in line and agree with your ridiculous behaviour policies @WestExeSchool ?
