PAKISTAN: Ali Wazir has spent nearly 20 months trapped in a cycle of arbitrary detention, repeat cases and re‑arrests designed to keep him behind bars.
On 16 March 2026, a court ordered his release. He was re‑arrested within hours. Since then, three new cases have been filed to prolong his detention.
This weekend, Ali Wazir went on a hunger strike inside Dadu Jail, to protest being denied urgent medical care despite suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and a heart‑related condition.

I respect Eqbal Ahmad, but I fundamentally reject this position. Alignment with the Taliban reflects an ideological break from nationalism, not an expression of it. The Taliban’s worldview is incompatible with any genuine sense of national identity. No true nationalist would strip their country of its flag, silence its anthem, or suppress its art and music—these are the very symbols that bind a nation together.
Moreover, the Taliban’s system of gender apartheid effectively erases half of Afghanistan’s population, denying women the basic rights to education, work, and freedom of movement. Such policies are not only oppressive but fundamentally anti-national, as no nation can claim integrity while systematically excluding and silencing half its people.
🇵🇰On 22 March 2025, Mahrang Baloch was arrested alongside Beebow Baloch during a peaceful protest in Quetta. Her sister remembers waking to dozens of missed calls, rushing to Quetta, and walking into a home filled with dread.
They spent their first Eid visiting her in prison.
Today, one full year later, they are spending their third Eid without her.
This Eid, Mahrang marks her full year in prison, facing deteriorating health, which threatens to impair her mobility.
Her detention, and that of all arbitrarily detained Baloch activists, must end now.

Pak security state prosecutes the bold anti terror campaigner like #AliWazir under anti terror laws yet again in Sindh & is ready to “rehabilitate” hard core terrorists at the drop of a hat. That’s why their so-called position against terrorism rings hallow.

Honourable President Zardari, for your kind and immediate attention:@AAliZardari#AppealForMercy
Pakistan’s judges, generals, and religious scholars should imagine for a moment that they have a son who is a Fulbright scholar, who left the United States out of love for his homeland and returned to serve his country—only to suddenly be accused of blasphemy and remain imprisoned for the past 13 years after being sentenced. What would your hearts go through?
Perhaps then you would understand the pain of Junaid Hafeez’s elderly parents, whose home and business have already been destroyed, yet who still wait for their son like Prophet Jacob waited for his Joseph.
I respectfully appeal to Asif Ali Zardari that, on this blessed occasion of Eid al-Fitr, he grant freedom to Junaid Hafeez and restore hope to a family.

Ali Wazir, the former member of the National Assembly and leader of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), remains behind bars in Sukkur Central Jail — not because any court has ordered it, but because office hours ended too late on the wrong day. His counsel Imdad Solangi expressed hope that a release warrant would be issued on Monday, allowing Wazir to walk free the same day.

This madness must stop.
Bombarding civilian homes simply bec u possess aerial superiority is both arrogant & foolish.
With asymmetric warfare rising, weaker neighbours have many ways to strike back.
Hold Generals accountable rather than making ordinary Afghans pay 4 ur follies
