@KellieKa1010@NormOrnstein It was actually Merrick Garland's lifelong best friend, Jamie Gorelick, who also was Jared Kushner's "ethics lawyer", who ensured that Kushner and Ivanka got in the White House even though they could not pass a security clearance.

@Ardhen26 @tfd_jrdy @PatrickHamrock @emptywheel A Grand Jury Indictment is NOT THE SAME THING as “what she did.” Of course you have not read the 49 page indictment
@david_j_roth@david_j_roth I’ve had your 2017 article (from A-hole to B-hole) on my profile page as the sole link forever.
Let’s make this at least a semi-Shakespeare saga and have The Don rat on the husband of his favorite child (breaking her heart) in order to get a reduced sentence.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse Aside from career ending crashes, or other illnesses that you can get. Armstrong famously had cancer. Then he came back. That was two separate careers. But that doesn’t happen to most of us mortals. I ask you to think about why rules are important. Often, to protect the riders.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse Let me try to explain something for anyone who ever reads this. All profession cyclists, including 7 time Texan winner of the Tour de France, lived in a bubble. His interactions with fans, including with press and autographs, were severely limited. There were many reasons for it.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse Also the staff of the race itself is literally hundreds of folks working the event. It is a huge event of people coming and going, I was a germophobe as an amateur cyclist myself, afraid of getting sick. Imagine these professionals who have only 10 years to make a career.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse As I said in the beginning, the modern era of pro cycling had already limited fan access to autographs. The focus here is on the press areas. They don’t want the press to contaminate in the big tents (literally hundreds of news orgs internationally) interviewing bef/after races.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse When you are in a professional sport, you have to interact with fans for autographs. The Tour de France was very special this way. It is after all an open road. I’m not sure why you think it is a bad rule to enforce to protect everyone, when the riders themselves are at risk.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse So there is really NO difference here. The MASKS you see in the photos you are sharing, you notice, are casually worn, and NOT WHEN THEY ARE RIDING, which is absurd, nor are any of the protocols in these new articles. The measures are to protect the riders. They want them.
@eclectictalk@CoronaPrincesse Like wrestlers to make their weight classes and this compromises your immuniune system. After Armstrong, star riders started sleeping on their own private busses, roped off fromeveryone, including teammates, eating private meals, and teams like SKY were ordered to do the same.
