The UK is among the worst nations in Europe for child poverty.
In the UK, 11% of 15-year-olds reported they had skipped a meal in 2022 because there wasn't enough money to buy food.
In the Netherlands and Finland, this number was 3%.
Black are the constituencies won by the CDU/CSU, blue the constituencies won by the AfD. Quite staggering. Can you spot the exact location of the old inner-German border?! 🥴
@Addiynwa@footballontnt “No wonder he and his family is getting threatened”
Really?!?
Surely you don’t think that any threats to the safety of someone and their family, because of decisions made on a football pitch, is justified! Or any other workplace for that matter.
Dear Vice President Vance
I do appreciate your interest in the Christian faith.
You are right that the Bible has a lot to say about love.
The New Testament teaches that we are called to love God, love our families, and love our communities, but it also teaches that we are to love the stranger, the poor, the hungry, and even our enemies.
The Bible does not teach a prioritisation such that we should love our own and only if we have some leftovers are we to use that to help others as you propose in this clip.
In fact, it teaches the opposite.
- The Bible says that if you don't love the stranger, you are not a believer at all ( Matthew 25).
- The Bible argues that the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love your neighbour ( Matthew 22:34–40 )
- But it teaches that a neighbour is anyone that is in need - see the parable of the Good Samaritan ( Luke 17).
Would love to talk theology, compassion and justice any time you are free.
@Loulameg Well said @Loulameg!
Whatever people think when they make these comments, they are personal insults that cause real hurt. I hope whatever his Boro future holds, he will remember the scenes with fans after his cracking goal at QPR.
@Philip_Goff Yes. When Jesus was asked ‘who is my neighbour?’ he told the parable of the Good Samaritan. A story that completely subverted the idea that the primary people we should look out for are our kith and kin.

Elon Musk addressed a rally for the far-right AfD party in Germany. He says: “There’s crazy too much focus on past guilt." This seems very insensitive as the world commemorates the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the murder of 6 million Jewish people.
Musk also talked about stopping the "dilution" of German culture, which is a racist trope which objectifies "foreigners" as an unwelcome flood of invaders. This is offered with no recognition that Musk is a white South African and has to deal with his own colonial history.
Ironically, Musk, the richest man in the world, said there should be less intervention in German politics from "international elites."
The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has been associated with several controversial statements and actions since its founding in 2013.
Holocaust Memorial Remarks (2017): Björn Höcke, a prominent AfD figure, referred to Berlin's Holocaust memorial as a "memorial of shame" and called for a "180-degree change" in Germany's approach to its Nazi past. These comments were widely condemned as antisemitic.
Anti-Immigration and Anti-Islam Rhetoric: The AfD has consistently taken strong stances against immigration and Islam. The party's manifesto states that "Islam does not belong to Germany," and it has campaigned against the construction of mosques and the public call to prayer.
"Remigration" Policy Proposal (2025): Alice Weidel, the AfD's co-leader, advocated for mass deportations of immigrants who commit crimes or fail to integrate, a policy she termed "remigration." This proposal has been criticized for echoing extreme nationalist sentiments.
Historical Revisionism: In a January 2025 discussion with Elon Musk, Weidel agreed with the incorrect assertion that "Hitler was a communist," a statement that has been widely debunked and criticized for distorting historical facts.
"Deportation Tickets" Campaign (2025): The AfD's Karlsruhe branch distributed flyers resembling flight tickets labeled "Abschiebetickets" ("deportation tickets") targeting individuals with perceived migration backgrounds. This action led to police investigations on suspicions of incitement to hatred.
In the face of xenophobia, cultural elitism and intolerance, the Christian faith calls all to love, compassion and mercy.
