A rare bit of self promo: I've been doing a radio show for the last year on a local station and it's been loads of fun. I've also devised the most "Me" feature, where I ask musicians to talk about a memorable place and pick a song. Here's an archive:

@SustainableTall I live in a 19th c. building that basically has one of these - a few neighbours put plants in it and one lets their cat out there but otherwise it isn’t accessible. But it does mean my kitchen has a window and natural light ☺️
@lf_p I did a tour a little while ago, they were about halfway through cleaning the stone on the Carliol facade and the difference was so so noticeable!
Today we proudly raised the rainbow flag at Newcastle's Civic Centre, standing in solidarity with LGBTIQA+ communities and against homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia. 🌈#LGBTQIA+
@NewcastleCC As an actual local resident, rather than an anonymous sock puppet account here to spread hate, I would like to thank you for standing up - over and over here - for one of the most marginalised groups in the country. Proud to live here right now ❤️
@thomasforth My first job was working on the phones for an inner London borough’s bin department. Got exposed to an incredible cross section of society - rich, poor, born here, born elsewhere, old, young - unified by the fact they all really cared about getting their bins collected. Humbling.
We will share some thoughts on this in a week or so. In the meantime here’s a 🧵on @NewcastleCC transport consultations.
Hint: we need more action more than we need more consultation.
I went for a run in Leazes Park last night. There’s a loud contingent of football fans who are, once again, insisting it’s run down and in poor state. Meanwhile, those of us who actually live near it and use it on a regular basis are just out, enjoying a beautiful autumn evening.
@MarekBidwell@whickhamrobbie@neheritagelib Thank you. This is my experience as well. I live nearby and use it regularly, and so - clearly if you go there - so do lots of other people.
@neheritagelib I live in the city centre and it’s a vital green space for an area with an increasing population. The constant comments about it being “run down” don’t track with my experience as a regular user and frankly just sound like consent manufacturing for a land grab.
I had to cross this road, which might not look much but funnelled traffic from a whole side of Luton to the M1.
And the only crossing was 2-3 minutes in the wrong direction, so we’d usually just wait for a gap and run. Lol cool
I enjoyed this new video by Type Ashton https://t.co/PemuhKrYXQ - obviously US infrastructure is always on the extreme end but it made me think a lot about my own walks to school.
@dorkusmalorkus_ Lots of good points already made here but I would like to add: performative ways of justifying to yourself that it’s the sane choice to spend $4000 a month to live in a closet above a bowling alley and below another bowling alley.
