In the latest Pakistani elections, independents backed by the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan emerged as frontrunners, securing the most seats and surpassing traditional political parties.

The slow vote counting was attributed to the suspension of cell phone services for safety reasons on election day. Out of 235 seats, Khan's supporters won 49, while Nawaz Sharif's party secured 42, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's party received 34.
