East Java has 38 districts and has many cultures to explore. With Surabaya as the city’s capital and second largest city in Indonesia. Identic with their frank way to speak: 'Iyo rek, Ora gelem wah, Seng nggena wae!'. It's called as Suroboyo -an, usually spoken to close friends.

East Java has their own togetherness culture, which is called Gotong Royong. It usually begins with a prayer followed by a ceremonial feast by cutting a traditional tumpeng dish. The classic rice tumpeng is shaped like a cone, a split cone, or a circle.
