We recently interviewed Associate Professor Nazif Alic from the Institute of Healthy Ageing. Nazif mentions his work with the @UCL_Biosci_REC and Athena Swan. Read more: https://t.co/EhWj3mLaoN @uclbiosciences
Please join us this Thursday at 4pm GMT for a talk by Prof Marc Freeman, Director of the Vollum Institute, Portland. "How does the nervous system respond to injury?" Details and link at: https://t.co/00RjUEtn0Y

Hey #Flyfolk, we're pleased to share our reporter for ERK signalling using the Kinase Translocation Reporter technique from @RegotLab. It works in flies!
Here's the preprint https://t.co/DqzT4DqEZR and stocks will be available soon from @flystocks
(3) Programmed cell death in the brain is assumed to be regulated intrinsically when stereotyped and predictable vs. extrinsically when stochastic. We show that in the lamina tissue architecture can establish stereotyped patterns of apoptosis in response to extrinsic signals.
Just deposited on bioRxiv: “Differentiation signals from glia are fine-tuned to set neuronal numbers during development”. Primarily the work of Anadika Prasad and Matthew Bostock, who were supported by Inês Baldaia-Lago and Zaynab Housseini. https://t.co/1kF0fiubpz
(2) Besides regulating proliferation or survival, neuronal numbers can be set by regulating the number of neural precursors induced to differentiate. Tissue architecture and feedback inhibition by newly born neurons limit differentiation signals from glia to do so in the lamina.
The Amoyel lab is on Twitter! Better late than never...
And you can join us - we have open positions, see website for details or get in touch, we welcome any enquiry. https://t.co/H8D4edIYD2
After years of twitter dormancy we've reawakened and we are recruiting a research assistant!
