I attended an African Union Consultative Meeting on the Development of an AU Policy on Psychosocial Well-Being Support for Peace Support Operations. The meeting was in response to the increasing operational and psychological demands placed on AU personnel deployed in highly volatile environments and the absence of a standardized, AU-wide policy framework to address these challenges. @UNOAU_
I had the privilege of being a facilitator for the 6th ECOWAS Senior Mission Leaders Course (SMLC), hosted at the National Defence College from 9–13 February 2026. It was an abridged course, but largely achieved its full objectives.
I commend the leadership of ECOWAS Commission and the National Defence College, Abuja for this great collaborative effort. The course provided opportunities to share UN best practices and highlights the importance of partnership with regional organizations in Africa.

I was at the Second African Union Lessons Learned Forum in Abuja Nigeria, where I was a panelist on two separate sessions on the “New Era of Peace Enforcement” and “the operatuonalization of the ASF”.
Colonel Rahul Sachan, representing the @UNOAU_, reiterated the remarks of the SRSG and Head of Office, H.E. @parfait_onanga, and mentioned that the UN, through the UN-AU Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security, remains steadfast and committed to support the AU-led efforts to promote peace and security across Africa, including the implementation of the Permanent COHA in Tigray, Ethiopia, and noted that all SOPs, frameworks, guidelines must be practical and implementable on ground.

Today in #Mogadishu, SRCC & Head of #AUSSOM Amb. El-Hadji Ibrahima Diene hosted a high-level U.S. delegation led by @USAfricaCommand Commander Gen. Dagvin Anderson & U.S. Ambassador Richard Riley at AUSSOM HQ.
They discussed #AU–#AFRICOM support for Somali Security Forces, operations against Al-Shabaab, & enhancing cooperation for long-term stability.
Amb. Diene highlighted AUSSOM's role in Somali-led peace processes, while Gen. Anderson praised the Mission's impact on stabilising Somalia and the Horn of Africa. This is Gen. Anderson's first regional visit since assuming command.
Also present were Deputy Force Commander Maj. Gen. Peter Muteti & Police Commissioner Hillary Sao Kanu among other senior officials.
