Most travel content is a highlight reel. This is the spreadsheet behind it.
86 days in Australia. My wife, my parents (both in their 70s) and me. All vegan, 1 car, 18 stops, 13 real bases.
Every post here has nights, costs & what we'd do differently. The whole trip in numbers🧵
@srini091@PointsPro@srini091 usually for tap to pay limit is 5k. Axis is better comparatively atleast you can transact. With SBI everytime it fails, always embarrassing. I have stopped using it for now.
3/ The honest Canberra verdict, 4 nights, US$60 pp/night:
Parliament: skip unless you're a citizen or a politics person.
War Memorial: go. Worth it.
Our Airbnb: small, not clean, bad for the price. It soured the city.
Fix: 3 nights, not 4, and spend the saving on the zoo.
1/ We spent US$1,670 on one day at a zoo in Canberra. Four people, 8am to 3pm, four slots a day, and the money goes to the zoo as a donation.
It was one of the highlights of 86 days in Australia, and we had nearly written Canberra off 🧵
2/ Wonders of Wildlife, National Zoo & Aquarium. A keeper, all day, behind the scenes: we patted white rhinos and a cheetah, fed a tiger, meerkats, lemurs, otters, giraffes, zebras, emus, kangaroos.
Stories about every animal. My parents, both in their 70s, did all of it.
