We’re the Fort Greene Open Streets Coalition—a group of Brooklyn residents who want a safe and socially distanced place to spend time outside. #OpenStreetsNYC
“The work of making this world resemble one that you would prefer to live in is a lunch pail fucking job, day in and day out, where thousands of committed, anonymous, smart and dedicated people grind away on issues until they get a positive result.” - @jonstewart@fgopenstreets
We’re almost to 2,000 signatures demanding Willoughby stays open 24/7! This map shows where folks who have signed the petition live - it’s overwhelmingly local with 72% of signers in D35 and 6% in D36. Thank you, neighbors!
Reducing the #OpenStreets hours by half is a dangerous, potentially fatal mistake. These pics show a count of pedestrian/vehicle use of Willoughby Ave between 7 and 9 am with both counts seeing over 1,400 movements in 2 hours. People will be on the road regardless of barriers
Wow! In 24 hours more than 1000 people have signed the @fgopenstreets@transalt petition to keep Willoughby Avenue a 24/7 Open Street! Let’s keep it growing, Brooklyn - make your voice heard for maintaining one of the safest, best streets in the borough.

How better to show @NYCMayor that Willoughby Ave is LOVED and should stay open 24/7 than over 1,000+ signatures demanding it?! Keep signing, sharing and posting. See you on the street this weekend.🫡https://t.co/ew7IfmVzFz
Look out for the @fgopenstreets neighbors on the street this weekend, fighting for a 24/7 Willoughby! We have 1,084 petition signers in a day and I bet we’ll have atleast 2,000 by the end of the weekend. Email me at [email protected] if you want to support canvassing.
@fgopenstreets@NYC_DOT The @fgopenstreets petition for a Willoughby Avenue Open Street is at 977 signers. It will hit 1,000 signatures in 24 hours. Wow. Sign and support here: https://t.co/1s8PwI16WP
It’s frustrating that we once again have to defend against @NYCMayor’s team meddling with the overwhelming success of the Willoughby Avenue Open Street. If you are a local user, please consider signing this petition!
These streets are well-used and loved. Volunteers spend time manually counting pedestrians/cars and last week we saw 1,657 movements down Willoughby with just 2% from vehicles.
A 24/7 #openstreet is a no brainer.
A message to @NYC_DOT: Open streets ARE for all people, including drivers. Check out the agency's explanation for cutting the hours of the Willoughby Ave. open street in half: https://t.co/YZpL8KvaUx
We should be expanding the Willoughby Avenue Open Street — and Open Streets everywhere.
Instead, @NYCMayor wants to cut the hours of Willoughby by 50% ❌
Join the @fgopenstreets in telling Mayor Adams and your reps: We need a 24/7 Open Street ‼️

We're having to jump into action AGAIN to save the Willoughby Ave #OpenStreets. @NYC_DOT is trying to reduce the streets hours to 8a-8p, a dangerous and potentially fatal mistake!
SIGN THE PETITION TO TELL DOT TO KEEP OUR STREET 24/7: https://t.co/ew7IfmVzFz
Only 3% of our streets have a protected bike lane.
75% of our streets are dedicated to cars and trucks, forcing the rest of us to compete for scraps.
This makes streets chaotic, unsafe & cramped.
Let's change this. Let's build streets that better serve New Yorkers’ needs.
