I went to @OpenSauceLive to find the coolest biology / chemistry / materials booths and ask them some Qs.
I found open-source genetic engineering, NMR, and much more - And, I interviewed the likes of @NASAAmes & @crunchlabs!!
Video below to see me talk to these awesome ppl!!
I'm excited to do science differently by documenting my garage-lab, DIY work. I think public-facing, transparent research is really important and I want to share everything I do along the way.
I hope you'll follow along with me!
Thermo Fisher got exposed for manipulating validation data for their antibodies, & at first, I thought that was it.
But I realized it actually reveals a much deeper problem - the prioritization of profit over doing good science.
So I made a video to talk about it-
1/3
I cover what happened, how my time at Thermo gave me some insight into WHY it might have happened, and the way this has much deeper impacts on the Field of Science. Lost trust = overall cuts :(
Plus, how we can do science differently!

@NikoMcCarty What do you think the value is in being able to communicate ideas effectively through non-writing avenues, like YouTube videos, as well? Will that be something that gets more attention moving forward or will it remain primarily in the writing space?
@johnowhitaker@alex_paul_kelly Wait that’s wild I’ve been subbed to your account for a couple weeks now! Found it when I was looking for people doing similar stuff! Small world.
