💔 My uncle was killed on Oct. 7 in Adi Seneyto, near Adwa, Tigray. My family says Ethiopian military jets bombed his home, killing two civilians and injuring others.
Abiy Ahmed’s government is killing innocent civilians in their own homes.
Ayaaaaay 💔 Rest in peace. 🕊️
The #Tigrai people have one message for every invader: YOU DO NOT BELONG ON OUR LAND. Tigrai is not yours to occupy, not yours to rule, & never yours to claim. Our land is not a bargaining chip, and our freedom is not negotiable. NO OCCUPATION. NO SUBMISSION. leave while you can.
Eritrea asks UN Security Council to take "deterrent measures" after what it calls Ethiopia's "declaration of war" against it in renewed hostilities in Tigray region
@thomascmountain@thomascmountain in the war 2020-2022 that ended with Pretoria agreement both Ethiopia and Ertitrea committed genicide. Yes it not yet proven by UN investigation but the united nations lack of fulfill its duties does not make it genocide not commited.
How Much More Must Tigray Endure Before the World Speaks?
-----
Reports from Tigray this morning describe another devastating wave of aerial attacks, with multiple drone strikes reportedly killing 14 civilians and injuring 22 others. There are also reports of repeated drone attacks and a fighter-jet strike on residential areas. These are not statistics. They are human beings - mothers, fathers, children, and families whose homes should never become their graves.
What makes this moment even more unbearable is the silence. Where is the international community? Where are the governments and institutions that repeatedly invoke the protection of civilians, international humanitarian law, and accountability?
Tigray has barely begun to recover from the catastrophic 2020-2022 war, which produced mass civilian deaths, widespread conflict-related sexual violence, displacement, destruction, and immense economic loss. Estimates of the death toll vary substantially, with some widely cited estimates reaching roughly 600,000, while the full human cost remains contested and difficult to establish.
Yet accountability remains profoundly inadequate, and now civilians are again living beneath drones and aircraft. Recent weeks have already brought repeated reports of drone strikes in Tigray, including civilian casualties and, on September 20, the destruction of a truck carrying more than 41 metric tons of humanitarian food assistance for displaced people.
I struggle to comprehend this coldness. How many Tigrayan mothers must watch their homes become burial grounds before their suffering commands the world's attention? How many children must wake to the sound of drones before their lives are considered worthy of urgent international concern?
The world has repeatedly demonstrated - in Kosovo, Ukraine, Gaza and elsewhere - that grave civilian suffering can command international attention and action. Why should civilians in Tigray expect anything less? Does African flesh and blood somehow matter less?
The answer must be no. Civilian life has equal value everywhere. Tigrayan civilians deserve the same protection, attention, accountability, and human solidarity demanded for civilians anywhere else in the world.
Silence in the face of repeated civilian suffering cannot become the world's response to Tigray.
Ethiopia: newly formed rebel alliance is expected to launch serious offensives on multiple fronts. Government forces dispersed across the country. Their ability to respond reduced. PM Abiy may rely more heavily on air power
The U.S. Government condemns the recent drone strike on a @CatholicRelief humanitarian assistance convoy in Tigray. We urge authorities to conduct a full investigation and share findings to prevent any such incidents occurring again. Parties should immediately engage in dialogue to resolve political differences peacefully.
Local media with an *unconfirmed* report that Turkey is suspending drone sales to Chad and Ethiopia over their support to the RSF in Sudan. This would be a game changer if true, especially for Ethiopia which is preparing its own internal war on multiple fronts and depended on Turkish drones in its last Tigray war to survive. Curious to see if this gets confirmed.
International media are now beginning to pick up on Abiy Ahmed’s dark record and shed light on his government’s continued violence against its own people, including aerial bombardments using jets and drones in Tigray and elsewhere. I am glad to see The Firstspot, a prominent South African media outlet, carry the story of yesterday’s attacks on Tigray, helping bring much-needed international attention to these disturbing developments.

The Ethiopian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who has been accused of genocide and destabilization in the Red Sea-Horn of Africa region, persists in its aggressive military activities in Tigray, which may provoke another severe conflict.
On the morning of August 20, 2026, at 11 AM local time, a drone strike conducted by the Ethiopian government targeted civilians, including children and women, in Mekelle, the national capital of Tigray. Eyewitnesses and local media reports, which provide visual evidence, indicate that civilians, including children and women, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at Ayder Specialized Hospital in Mekelle.
