@data_atx@AleshireLaw@TPPF Yup. The proposed underground mall was crown jewel of the whole system: a destination location downtown that would itself draw riders from all parts of town (given the original, citywide footprint). Now we get a doppelgänger to the crappy 2014 plan voters rejected 57-43.
@AleshireLaw What I’m suggesting is that the grounds to replace her are ethical much like George Santos’ expulsion for lying and failing to disclose his criminal past rather than for the past itself. And the party needs to ensure against rigging the outcome for the loser.
IMHO Jessica Cohen’s biggest flaw isn’t her past, but failing to own it in the present. People can change and learn from their mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance. If she’s turned her life around, she should have laid it all out and presented herself as an example for others.
@AleshireLaw Such attacks were pretty easy to see coming, even based on the info known during the campaign which alone raised lots of eyebrows. But the Dem establishment didn’t take the race seriously, and no one else wanted to run. Maybe a wake-up call now.
@AleshireLaw If the party really needs to replace her, then point to incompetence: on-the-job manifestations of her past or character. And float potential replacements not named Doug Greco to assure the public they’re not simply trying to reject the election results.
@AleshireLaw I’ve been friends with Chuck for over 40 years. But it would be unfair to him to characterize this effort as Chuck Herring vs Jessica Cohen. No one else wanted to run, despite efforts to recruit. Grego still lost 2-1 to candidate so flawed. Who would replace her? Greco again?
@data_atx Can’t wait ‘til we hear a Project Connect update from ATP, either. In October 2024 they raised their estimate with the feds from $7.1 to $8.234 billion. Never mentioned it locally. What do you think that cost might be today, after the war with Iran and skyrocketing prices?
So why not simply bring back the Armadillo shuttle buses that were so popular downtown before CapMetro irrationally ended them? Run them up and down Congress, S Congress and even The Drag if there’s demand. Years quicker and billions cheaper to deploy. https://t.co/GWbOw6buJJ
