good morning friends! does anyone know of any good resources for learning about stomatal conductance/hydraulic conductance/plant eco-physiology in general because i am truly struggling over here
Born this day in 1922, Shiu-Ying Hu studied at Ginling College, Lingnan University, and Radcliffe @Harvard@RadInstitute. An expert on Chinese medicinal/food plants, she researched with @ArnoldArboretum and @HarvardHerbaria, and taught at @CUHKofficial - collecting 30k specimens.

@NatureComms recently published an article promoting the flawed conclusion that women are bad mentors for women. Check out my @sfsuscicomm blog post addressing these flaws and why scientific research needs to be intersectional! #scicomm#WomenInSTEM

3 years ago i was lying on the floor of my apartment in tears bc i had failed so many science classes i wasn’t sure i was going to graduate on time and today i finished my first semester of grad school!!!! brb gonna lie on the floor and cry but for the opposite reason!!!
Mesophyll, stomata, and xylem! Come learn from @fionavduong about these plant anatomical traits and their close connection to growth and the environment at our #sciomm showcase tomorrow 12/9 @ 10am! https://t.co/Abz23RyfpY #SciArt#cycads#3minthesis
Most of us know about #STEM, but do you know about #STEAM? The A is for Art and is a learning approach that integrates practices and principles of STEM’s experiential learning methods with art practices and elements. Learn all about it in our new blog post https://t.co/vy6Fc1uTLg
Wow! @fionavduong ! Incredible fall scenery! Thank you so much for sharing these. Our fave may be the one with the sun poking through the trees! 🌞🌲🌳🍂 Which is your favorite?
did you know that the reason tattoos remain visible for so long is bc of MACROPHAGES?
I thought it was bc the ink stained long-living fibroblasts, but no! dermal macrophages phagocytose the ink and store it in vacuoles, where it is still visible from the surface.
Want to talk to a scientist? Grab your fav mug with tea or coffee, and hang with us live on Wed December 9th. We’ll chat about our research, discuss STEM career paths, and take a break from stress. More info & Zoom link to come soon! #SciComm#SFSU#ThisIsWhatAScientistLooksLike
