We are hiring a 3 years Postdoc to work on the epigenetics of selfing in snails under the supervision of Céline Cosseau and Christoph Grunau, in collaboration with Patrice David and myself. The Postdoc will be based in Perpignan, with trips to Montpellier https://t.co/lyUO8oh6si
🌿 Today, we remember Salk Professor Joanne Chory, a visionary plant biologist and a force for climate action. Her research revolutionized how we understand plant biology and inspired solutions to fight climate change. Joanne’s brilliant mind and passion will forever impact the world. 💚

5. Everyone should use something like scheduling assistant in Teams/Calendly/Google Appointment Scheduler to schedule meetings. The traditional email chain to schedule meetings is inefficient and a waste of time.
Here’s my 5 takeaways after a month as an industry scientist:
1. Communication skills are vastly underrated.
2. Academia could really benefit from code review. Yes it requires time and dedication, but it’s a great way to learn from others and check for mistakes.
3. Reproducibility and version control are everything. See #2.
4. Meetings should always be scheduled in 30 min blocks rather than 1 hr and should have an explicit, timed agenda.
Come work with me!! The SUNY Cortland Biological Sciences Dept is hiring an Assistant Professor in genetics/molecular biology. Click the link for more info. Application review starts Oct 18. Please spread the word! Happy to answer questions!
